Turns out, Cliff Lee wasn't just moving at his own pace during his first couple bullpen sessions of spring training, which were noticeably shorter than those of the other pitchers in camp.
Lee suffered a mild abdomen strain while throwing on his own in Arkansas in January, and the Phillies decided to ease their new lefty into action.
But general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. said last night that Lee is no longer battling the strain and is "absolutely 100 percent."
"He's not battling anything," Amaro said.
Lee was examined by team doctor Michael Ciccotti prior to spring training and cleared for action.
Lee missed time at the beginning of last season with a strained ab.
