Mike Adams is targeting a return sometime between April 13th and April 15th as he continues to work his way back from offseason shoulder surgery. That's a soft date, obviously. Rehab rarely progresses in a straight line. But we can report that the veteran righthander looked sharp in his first competitive outing in nine months as he squared off against five Double-A batters in the first inning of a minor league intrasquad scrimmage. Adams retired the first three hitters he faced, striking out 2008 first round draft pick Anthony Hewitt for the third out. His first two batters grounded out. He then allowed a couple fo line drive hits on fastballs he left up in the zone.
Adams said his shoulder felt fine throughout the outing. As long as it bounces back tomorrow, his next outing will be a minor league one on Saturday.
