Rosters for the Arizona Fall League were released yesterday, and there are some interesting names who will be representing the Phillies. A slew of relievers, some of whom could challenge for a roster spot next season, will join lefty slugger Matt Rizzotti on the Mesa Solar Sox, where Lakewood manager Mark Parent will serve as hitting coach:

1) RHP Justin DeFratus (A/AA in '10: 3-0, 1.99 ERA, 63.1 IP, 9.9 K/9, 2.3 BB/9)

2) RHP B.J. Rosenberg (A/AA in '10: 2-0, 5.92 ERA, 11.47 K/9, 3.3 BB/9)

3) 1B/DH Matt Rizzotti (A/AA/AAA in '10: .344/.432/.557, 17 HR, 76 RBI)

4) RHP Josh Zeid (A in '10: 7-4, 3.00, 9.1 K/9, 2.4 BB/9)

5) RHP Tyson Brummett (A/AA in '10: 1-2, 4.09, 5.76 K/9, 2.4 BB/9)

6) RHP Chris Kissock (A/AA in '10: 7-3, 2.252, 5.9 K/9, 2.4 BB/9)

7) UTIL Tim Kennelly (A in '10: .277/.346/.359, 4 HR, 57 RBI)

DeFratus has really improved his stock over the past year, moving from the rotation to the bullpen. Rosenberg, who was very much on the Phillies radar this spring, has had a rough season thanks to a lat strain that has sidedlined him for much of the season. Rizzotti has struggled in his first 15 games at Triple-A, going 9-for-43 (.209) with three extra base hits (all doubles), 12 strikeouts and six walks.

Murph, Kennelly is a career .270 hitter and already 23-years old. Is he really a prospect? Or given that he plays every position, is he there to be a super-sub?

Kennelly predominantly catches, right? They have only one or two in the system they really consider even remotely prospects, (with Valle being the only sure thing, or so we've been led to believe). Maybe they just figure get him whatever help they can and see what happens.

Kennelley can play many positions. He has primarily caught this season but has also seen significant time at 3rd base and RF for Clearwater.

Sports writing has slipped a long way when columns have to be made up with questions to the reader instead of good investigative sports news by the writer. You aren't the only guilty party Murphy, but you're one of the worst.

Is there really no way Rizzotti can learn to play left field?

I don't get it. If Greg Luzinski and Pat Burrell could play left, why can't Matt Rizzotti?

And what of Savery--the hitter, Overbeck, and Garcia? They are the ones who really could use the AFL to make the next step up. Not sure if Kissock, Kennelly or Brummett will see Philly pinstripes.

Then again, @steveku2, Mike Easler and Ryan Howard could not play left.

For LF, the Phils seem to look for guys that at least have an arm to get the ball in without disaster - Howard and Burrell are the best examples - Howard clearly has the athletic ability to play LF but has no arm whatsoever - but Burrell was a ritard wth 4 feet but had a rocket for an arm, so he made the move. So for Rizzotti, it will come down to that, and from what I've read he does not have a very good arm, unfortunately.
