A Chestnut Hill home designed by George Howe – one of the architects behind the PSFS building – has sold for $1.13 million.
A Chestnut Hill home designed by George Howe – one of the architects behind the PSFS building – has sold for $1.13 million.
The 1919 stone manor home, located on West Bells Mill Road, sold last month after about six months on the market.
This property is about a half-mile from Howe's famous "High Hollow" estate, which just hit the market on Friday for $3.5 million. According to the listing, Howe designed this home with the "romanticism and French-Italian spirit" of "High Hollow."
The sellers told us earlier this year that they redesigned the master suite, enlarging the bedroom, adding floor-to-ceiling windows, and a wall of closets.
The home is about 6,000-square-feet, which is about half the size of "High Hollow." There are seven bedrooms and four-and-a-half baths. Many iron details from Samuel Yellin can be found throughout the home, including the railings on the staircases and the locks.
