A Frank Furness gem on Spruce Street has hit the market for the first time in more than 60 years for $2.95 million.

Like many of the late Philadelphia architect's buildings, this mansion is full of history.

Furness built the 5,500-square-foot home in 1875 for his friend Rudulph Ellis, a director at the Pennsylvania Railroad. Both Furness and Ellis served in the Civil War together. Read more about the history of the home here.

According to listing agent Laurie Phillips of BHHS Fox & Roach, only two families have lived in 2113 Spruce.

"It's in magnificent condition," Phillips said. "All of it's original and it really hasn't been disturbed."

The wood pocket doors, moldings, wainscoting, staircase, and skylight are among the original features.

With seven bedrooms and five-and-a-half baths, the 33-foot-wide home has a large center hall entry, a center courtyard, and four-car parking.

Phillips said the current owner is selling now to downsize.
