$1.65M home in Camden? You read that right

We just came across a new single-family home for sale in Camden for $1.65 million.

We just came across a new single-family home for sale in Camden for $1.65 million.

Yes, you read that price right.

The three-story detached brick home located on Stevens Street, about a half-mile from Cooper University Hospital, didn't seem to have anything unique about it that would give it that high price, where the average home price in that area is $73,915.

So we checked with the listing agent, Tito Santiago, and he confirmed that selling price.

"The owner put his heart, sweat and tears into the home and I can't convince him to sell it at the market value," Santiago said.

Santiago said the owner is an appraiser, and feels strongly that it is worth the high amount. The property has been on and off the market for two years, and was first listed at $2 million.

While Santiago said he believes the home is special for the area – it was completely rehabbed, sits on two lots, has two kitchens, and nice-sized bedrooms – he still thinks it should be in the $200,000 range.

Santiago said the only interest he has received about the home since it hit the market has been people asking if the price is correct.

According to public records, the current owner purchased the home in 2002 for just $2,000. The home is 3,486-square-feet, has four bedrooms and two-and-a-half baths. Other features include an eight-car driveway, partially-finished basement with wine room, and an outdoor kitchen with sink.
