Executed? Vick?

Were Tucker Carlson's comments about Michael Vick out of line?
Yes
No

Well, Michael Vick now has even more in common with Donovan McNabb than just his old job under his former coach. Just as McNabb was frequently blindsided by off-the-wall attacks (Rush Limbaugh, Bernard Hopkins, etc.), Vick last night took an unlikely shot from Fox News commentator Tucker Carlson.

Guest hosting Sean Hannity's show, Carlson noted that President Obama had praised Eagles owner Jeff Lurie for given Vick a second chance after his incarceration on charges related to a dogfighting ring.

"I'm a Christian," Carlson said, a preface that is often followed by un-Christian remarks. I've made mistakes myself. I believe fervently in second chances. But Michael Vick killed dogs and he did in a heartless and cruel way. I think personally he should have been executed for that. He wasn't."

Couple quick things: I was as critical of the Eagles for signing Vick as anyone in the local media.  I still feel deep discomfort at the idea of Philadelphians -- my people, my family, my friends -- rooting for a guy who did the things he has admitted doing, just because he's a good football player. But executed? That's just batstuff.

Carlson went on, saying it was "beyond the pale" for the President of the United States to be "getting behind someone who murdered dogs." And so we see what this is really about -- the relentless and mindless need for some media members to attack Obama no matter what he says or does.

The political discourse in this country is conducted at levels below insulting. Good thing our sports conversations are so rational and civilized. Cough, cough.

Here's the video:

Jesus was a huge proponent of forgiveness. For Tucker Carlson to say what he said is so outrageous it isn't worth commenting. However, the 11% who support him according the poll, make it scary that the right wing really has such fervent supporters that if Rush, Glenn, etc. told them to jump off the Ben Franklin Bridge because God wanted it, they'd do it. Our political landscape is a mess.

It may be a blessing in disguise that Carlson made this violent, racist comment. These media guys that love to deliver hate and nonsense with a smile eventually become their worst enemies, and lose all but the most narrow-minded audiences. He has his freedom of speech: observe how he uses it.

Yeah, if those who are who so angered by what Vick did I plead to them to GO VEGAN!!! Put that anger where your mouth is and choose compassion for all of the sentient beings on this earth!!! "Farm animals" are the most abused and suffering creatures on this earth. Please don't kid yourself or try and justify anything. What Michael Vick did was beyond disturbing, but what happens to chickens, cows, and pigs on a daily basis is way worse. Kind of interesting that pigs are smarter than dogs and yet they suffer the most. Pigs are one of the most abused animals on this planet all in the name of "food." Why are dogs more important than pigs or any other animal on this planet? Because pigs are considered "food?" Because they are "yummy?" So are dogs and guinea pigs in certain areas of the world. Some people used to eat people. Flesh eating is so archaic and if you eat meat you are indirectly contributing to the abuse of animals. Deny all you want, but you are causing torture and pain and suffering to another living being. Whether you like it or not, you do it and actually those animals suffer a whole lot more than any of Michael Vick's dogs. I chose compassion and went vegan many years ago. JUST GO VEGAN or shut up about Michael Vick already!!!

Its so funny to read these comments about how killing a dog is the same as a human, Never in my life have I heard of anyone being hunted down after a hit and run on a dog even if the dog is left to bleed out and die a very painful death on the side of the road. Get real people dogs and cats are put to death every day in so called animal shelters for no other reason than to make room for more to kill or there is not enough money to take care of them but that is humane right. If you feel that strongly about the killing of defenceless animals start doing somthing about like donating time and money to your local SPCA or animal shelter or is that to hard to do for ya? Yeah your right much easier to sit in front of your computer and be a hypocrit and spout off on how bad a person Vick is!!! You self called good people disgust me !!

This hypocrite Carlson has killed just as many animals as Vick. He just didn't have the stones to do it himself. Carlson needs to watch the video "Meet Your Meat." Yeah, what Vick did to dogs was beyond disturbing, but perhaps Carlson should watch what happens to a downer cow. Or pigs and chickens. In general. At the slaughter house chickens get kicked around like the are soccer balls and piglets get their teeth ripped out. Wow, it kind of sounds like what Vick did to his doges except for the fact that those chickens and pigs ended up on Carlson's dinner plate. Unless Carlson is VEGAN (I am vegan), he needs to SHUT HIS MOUTH!!! Dogs are no more important than any other living creature on this earth (except for humans). GO VEGAN OR SHUT YOUR STUPID MOUTH!!!

Wow, so Carlson is a fellow vegan!!! Oh, that's right. Something tells me this hypocrite chowed down on the 'turducken' for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Where was he two years ago? Yeah, nowhere and now he comes out of the woodwork. Something tells me his comments have nothing to do with animal welfare. Gee, do I smell political agenda? Carlson can go forget himself. He does not care about the animals and he needs to shut his mouth. He does not speak for the animal rights activists. He is a hypocrite and he actually makes me feel sick. I think about what Vick did and it makes me sick and then I think about Carlson. Carlson makes me want to vomit. Hypocrisy makes me sick. Hey Carlson! Come out and protest the pigeon shoots if you are so outraged by animal abuse. That cruelty is still legal in PA. It's sick. Come out and show your outrage for animal abuse!!!!

Nowhere in the penal code does is give the death sentence for backing a dog fighting ring. Have not other columnist/journalist been fired for speaking or commenting (Juan Williams). I will bet nothing happens to to Tucker who is speaking for others. He is taking a free dig at President Obama.

As much as I think Tucker's statement is politically motivated and completely uncalled for, I just have to make this similar statement, because I've been thinking it for so long. 'Ben Rapelithburger should be castrated.'

animals have feelings too. they feel pain and suffer when hurt and tortured also. why is it so hard for some humans ro understand this? it's not okay to make an animal suffer for sport and fun. how would you humans feel if it were you? i hope he never can own another pet. he's not sorry for what he did, he's sorry he got caught. people who torture animals generally go on to torture children and adults later. i pray for his children. if he recieved the same treatment he gave those poor animals, then hey so be it. he's hurt now and i don't feel sorry for him. the bumb will get over it. though each time he's in pain..... it's sweet justice for the animals. no don't excute vick....please don't. let him live so he can suffer over and over again.

Ok, the past is the past.. GET OVER IT! He served his time AND if people can't get over what has happened in the past then maybe there should be a stiffer penalty for dog killing. SO, If anyone should be executed... it should be the person who suggested it.. not Micheal Vick.. in fact that's worse than killing dogs... this person wants to kill Vick. Idiot. Look I like Michael Vick as a football player.. not what he does off the field. with that I'd like to say that when he 1st came to the Eagles that nobody wanted their season tickets, or their Eagles gear and or even to watch the games... I think that has all changed and those "fans" who want back in.. can beome a Pittsburgh fans because YOUR no welcomed back... we don't need you to hop on any wagon because if you stopped watching because of one player... then you aren't a true fan. Happy New Year! GO EAGLES!

Tough time to be a bleeding heart: you don't like Vick, and you don't like Fox. Fox commentator blasts Vick. Hard to decide whom to hate more, isn't it? (By the way, I cannot imagine any other Fox commentator making the statement this pantywaist made.)
The Eagles hired Vick to be a backup QB. Kolb got hurt, and Vick started playing like an All-Pro. If your highly-evolved conscience won't let you support your football team, then don't. Go watch NBC News and feel good about yourself. Go Eagles!

First of all, I am African American and I think what Vick did was awful. I don't buy that dogfighting was part of his culture, and even if it was, that doesn't make it right. However, blast me if you will, but this whole thing has racial overtones. If this were Brady or the Manning brothers, would this bow-tied jerk have made these comments? Would this controversy have gone on this long? I doubt it. Vick paid his time and lost all his money. He has to support the surviving dogs for the rest of their lives, which is only fair. What do people want, blood? Dogs are not people, folks. Only a human being can be murdered. But apparently this guy thinks that the life of a black man is worth less than that of dogs. Also, to all of you wishing that Vick were dead or injured, he has a family to support. Do any of you wishing harm on Vick think of his two little girls?

Obama called because he was on vacation, and that's what you do when you aren't working! You make those personal connections you can't when you're on the clock. He called about energy efficiency at the Linc, the Vick comment was a cherry on the sundae. And why is anything positive about this guy verboten? He committed a horrible crime, he paid for the crime, he is active making amends in the community to show how vicious it was, to keep it from happening again. Isn't that redemption? Isn't that what we all seek after we sin? And who are we to deny it to any who sincerely search for it? Who are we to judge?

I didn't vote for President Obama. I don't like how he is running the country. I don't like what Mike Vick did, and If I was running things, he wouldn't be playing football. But Obama is the President of the United States. Who the hell are you people to say he can't call a person and congratulate them. And Vick did serve his time. Whether you believe or not is was long enough is another subject. Executed? I don't think so. This guy Tuck is a fool. I watch Fox and I have never liked him. He is so smug and insulting whenever he speaks. He talks down to his audience and In my opinion he should be fired. Fair and Balanced, now that's a laugh.

Seriously, what intelligent person gives Tucker Carlson any credibility? Most of us know he's a tool, and a cheap tool to boot. Words leave his mouth, noise and aroma leave my lower intestinal tract. The two are about equal, but I'd give the nod to my lower intestinal tract. When it speaks there is more clarity.

If the President had said anything remotely close to what Carlson said, the response would be - "Oh, he spoke inartfully. What he meant was that anyone who abuses dogs should be treated the same way. See, it doesn't sound so bad now." In fact, the President has said things that were way out-of-line. G-d forbid if a right-winger says anything. BTW, wasn't there just a sympathy media-blitz trying to get the dog killer approval to get a dog for his "childrens? Yes, I believe it's part of the plan. Gotta love it...

His comments were spurred because of his distaste for the president so he had an ulterior motive. He had a year to say what he said yet he did not. He needs to search his own mind and heart as we all do.

Everyone is being very premature on Vicks life when its absolutely to soon to know. The media--fans are upholding something they have no clue about and just like Tucker have their own ulterior motive and that is to win so they can walk around proud and puffed up. Useless feelings that help no one..not even Vick. And of course media has someone to exploit in one way and another.

The NFL is not upholding any standards. All they do is fine players for money for their own greed. Why is Goodell amassing this money week after week from players? It appears there is dissent in the camp. Are they having Vick play so they can make him pay monies back to his former owner and the NFL?

What happened to game suspensions? The NFL should be an example. Fining players only does not do it! Goodell needs to go!

I have absolutely NO problem with what Tucker Carson said. Actually I commend him for it. I cannot believe the American public is willing to overlook the horrific things this monster did to so many animals for over 10 years, for his ENTERTAINMENT, just because they perceive him to be a good football player. Sick Vick should still be in jail, if his buddy, Poindexter in VA had not suspended the sentence he should have received for animal cruelty. Vick has not served one day, not ONE day for animal cruelty. You don't do sick things like beat dogs to death, hang them, electrocute them for over 10 years while looking in their suffering eyes and hearing their howls of pain, and not be 'rehabilitated' but a few months in prison erases that sadism from your soul?? NO WAY. You don't rehabilitate a child molester nor a sadist, and Sick Vick is definitely a sadist. I wish all who are all for Vick's second chance could be treated the way Vick's dogs were treated, and see how much of a second chance they'd want THEIR monster to receive--People are so messed up, from Vick to his fans. Sick and disgusting. Tucker Carlson, I'm behind you, all the way.

Some people are just so ignorant to the facts...well, here they are.

What good would Vick be doing still in prison right now, aside from wasting taxpayer money keeping him there? The fact that he is free allows him to speak out and fight against the very atrocities he took part in. While I think it's disgusting what he did, I recognize that he is of much more use to society as a successful football player speaking against these things who kids will look up to and listen to. Who better to speak against dog fighting than someone who has paid the price for it? Whether or not you agree with his sentencing, it is what was handed to him by the courts, and he served it. He has a right to be a contributor in society once again.

As for Obama, he called Lurie I'm sure for many things, as I'm sure he calls many other people as well. This was not a political stunt, because Lurie is the one who opened his mouth to say what the President said. And I totally agree with him, it is a good example, on a large national scale, of inserting released criminals back into society. What do you want everyone who ever gets out of prison to be shunned from work? I'm sure they'd all just curl up in a corner somewhere and die....no way they'd resort to more crime just to survive (which we all would, if our survival depended on it.) THINK people.

Tucker Carlson got everyone to pay him some attention. What a creep. Pres. Obama made a polite comment during a business call about alternative energy. It was small talk about what he perceived as an act of kindness giving an ex-con a second chance. It is in the Judeo-Christian tradition! The only thing shocking here is that Carlson is a creep.

Honestly, this has nothing to do with Michael Vick. These right-wing demogogues are using Vick to criticize President Obama's judgment and alleged reverse-racism. It's a non-issue. Vick paid his debt to society: they're beating a dead horse and they know it. The hand-wringing of Carlson, "I'm a Christian...but...", is just play-acting. Obama is the real target.

You have to admit that what Vick did is pretty disturbing. When the other felons he was working with suggested letting dogs not suited to fighting go, Vick instead devised sick and cruel ways to kill them with his own hands. Here is a guy with an 8 figure income who spends his free time electrocuting, slamming, drowning, hanging etc. pets, some of which were stolen from their owners. Then, not even out of jail a year, he flips out because his fiancee rubs cake in his face and a co-conspirator ends up mysteriously shot. Sounds to me like the guy has a lot of problems that probably aren't being dealt with since he can earn some big bucks and pay back his wealthy creditors. He certainly shouldn't be executed, but he probably shouldn't be free, or at least very closely supervised by the criminal justice system.

Thank you, thank you, thank you, Tucker Carlson for saying what so many of us feel about Michael Vick. That the President would give his seal of approval to a dog killer is pathetic. Just remember, Michael Vick did not serve one day in jail for animal cruelty; it was for gambling across state lines. And of course, you sanctimonious Eagles fans don't care what he did; you only care about winning no matter what the cost. Every single dog that Michael Vick abused, torture and killed was smiling at the beating he got from the Eagles. In actuality, death is too good for him. He deserves to suffer for ever blow he inflicted on the little red dog and then some. Tucker Carlson has the guts that no announcer or sportscaster in Philadelphia has. It is a shame that they accept a Most Vile Person {MVP} as their sports hero.

What a Joke to even acknowledge this IDIOT.. that would promote execution of a human life for what Vick did. Vick after serving his punishment for his crimes directed by our courts of law. The Division between the classes rears it ugly head. For some of us that realize the pride we felt for our African American President. has now been tempered with the realization that he is the ideal Fall Guy for powers that paid for George Bush's Presidency that drove America into a war in Iraq that cost soo many Young American LIVES had me paying almost $6.00 a gallon for gas.and TOLD TO BELIEVE that George wasn't rewarding his OIL Buddies for paying for his presidency. But Iknow it all that

Vick deserved more time. Do people know that he received more time in prison for this crime than any other person convicted of dog fighting? Furthermore, did Carlson call for the execution of George Bush when he made up false evidence to declare war on Iraq, a war that has killed thousands of actual human beings? Anyone who listens to such a moron is a moron themselves. I don't say this because I like to watch Vick play, I say this out of common sense. I am truly sick of all the self righteous blowhards who continually comment on this situation.

Carlson's comments are whacko. I assume he exaggerated his outrage at Vick's crimes to slam Obama for jumping on the Eagles/Vick bandwagon. But there are people ALL OVER the political spectrum who hate Vick. He did things most people find disgusting, but here's the thing: he ain't doing them any more, OK? Some won't let go, because of a heightened sense of guilt and moral outrage they carry in their enlightened minds/hearts. These people wept during Avatar. Free food, housing, health care, and happiness for everyone, on the house!!

Vick paid his price and served his time fair enough - but he's trash and unfortunately the Eagles are a tainted franchise and are going to be cursed for travelling down this road.........watch it happen.

Thank God none of you are the true judge of humanity. Did Obama call Dan Rooney to thank him for giving Ben Roethlisberger a second chance? Ben was suspended 4 games when he wasn't even charged with a crime. Vick was convicted of a felony, after lying to the commissioners face about being involved in it, and he was suspended for 2 games. Donovan McNabb was a class act for 11 years, to follow him with this chump is a disgrace. I hope the Eagles franchise Vick --- then trade him, and resume the Kevin Kolb era.

Michael Vick made a mistake...as do all of us..we may not involve ourselves in dog fighting but for many of us we have behaved badly in our daily lives...Divorces...Adultery...etc....He served his time and that should be the end of it. Even though I didn't vote for Obama I commend him for speaking out on Michael Vick's behalf. Tucker Carlson is an idiot and probably a bigot to boot!

Tucker Carlson is an idiot. Executed? I think not. How can even say that while claiming to be a Christian is beyond me. I don't support what Vick did, but he went to jail and is making amends for his past. What Carlson did was purely a political move, as he used this story to criticize President Obama (but what else is new), and wronly at that. The President actually called Lurie to praise him on plans to use alternative energy at Lincoln Financial Field. His comment about Vick and redemption was NOT the main issue, rather a comment made while he and Lurie were talking about football. But just like Fox News always does, they only tell the part of the story that will that they can twist around for their own benefit. If it were up to me, I would love to see every pedophile on this earth executed. That, in my opinon would be sweet justice.

Bloviators like Carlson are referred to as "sh*t stirrers;" they're more interested in self-promotion through an outrageous, asinine statement than actually coherently and intelligently discussing an issue. Like many Eagles fans, I'm very ambivalent about Vick. He did the time for the crime, but because he's a public figure we get to observe every day if he's learned from his mistakes. Seems to me that will be a never-ending process for him.

Oh, and I don't feel guilty for eating meat, either. We have 300 million people to feed, and we do it well. Animals aren't going to volunteer to be food. Is this attitude (realism) the reason that I'm not screaming for Mike Vick to be run out of town? Maybe I'm just not sensitive enough. I should be sent to public school for some nonviolence and earth-first indoctrination. God, these bleeding hearts make me want to throw a PARADE for Vick, even though I hardly care about him or his past.

I love dogs, but killing them, no matter how barbarically, is not "murder." I have morals, but feel no need to hold onto a grudge against a guy who paid the price for his crime. This is SPORTS, okay? It's not "The View" with Joy Behar. Please spend your righteous rage on something that matters.

Not every Vick hater is a PETA freak, bleeding-heart, tree-hugging liberal, although many are. Carlson is a conservative, but Carlson may actually feel outrage about what Vick did years ago, which is his right, but he was waaaay out of line.

I also think it was pop-culture grandstanding for the president to call Lurie about Vick's "second chance." All it did was further polarize everybody on all sides of this non-issue.

The worst part of this line of thinking is that we have these people with shows trying to convince people to share their views. Then to claim it in the name of Christianity is ridiculous. Our forefathers (the people that Fox News Praise all of the time) have committed the worst crime against humanity and ran a country, but an athlete does something wrong to animals and he should be executed, really? Secondly what "christian" man calls for an execution? Shouldn't people have the chance to atone for sins. People in the political theater/view are the most radical people in the world. If they think that execution for this matter should be legal then the reasons terrorists kill is justified. Lets have some sense and start pulling these people from our politics. Also, bring back ethics to journalism... this lost foundation is causing many people to take the biased opinion as the "real news" and corrupting minds.

    Some points:

#1 If the Fox News guy is really a Christian he knows that if Vick really repented he's already forgiven by God. That's the only judgment that will count in the end. So what the rest of us think is just opinion only, no real substance.

#2 If given truth serum, folks against Vick would admit it's the money making that really bothers them. They don't believe someone who did what he did should be able to make large sums of money. He wouldn't even be a story if he were making $10K in another industry. So now we don't only want criminals to serve time, we want to dictate thier professions/earning potential once released.

#3 What Vick did what attrocious, and I believe in killing game for food. But I'm not a hunter and I saw an excerpt from a Palin show. She blew away an animal so bad it flew before it rolled around dead. There's gotta be a more human way to take down an animal (for food) than that. That was just people having fun shooting something, then eating it.

#4 I'm fairly conservative in thought due to being a Christian. But I don't need a news channel (and they're all biased) to tell me what to think. It amazes me how people are swayed by Fox News personalities. They're just people like you and me, with an opinion. There's nothing special or magical about them. And the facts they reports (intermingled with all the opinion) you cna find in any unbiased blog on the internet.

This nut makes FOX look bad, and they are usually on target - he justs hates Obama and needs a reason to attack him. Vick made mistakes, but unlike the alleged rapists (Roethlisberger,L.T.), murderers (O.J.), he had the guts to be repentant. Unlike Brady and Manning, don't bet against someone like Vick who has really struggled to regain his life. And yes, although some people equate themselves with animals, they are not in the same category.

Wake up America please this is just silly and I'm sick of everyone still talking about what this man did several years ago to a bunch of ANIMALS!!!!!! I also think that Obama's praise for the Eagles was out of line. If Vick couldn't play football do you think the Eagles would have hired him to be a spokesman for the team? Can you see them parading a convicted dog fighter in front of the press and introducing him? No. This wasn't some grand community outreach to convicted felons. They signed him because he could play football, and the hell with the hidden costs.

It is clear that Vick did something wrong, he was punished, and now we move on. If you are not comfortable with him, that's fine. But to completely absolve him of any wrongdoing or to condemn him to death - that's just small mindedness that makes us look like a nation of children.

this is ridiculous i guess a dog is just as important as a human give me a break. people hunt deers bears and all other types of creatures for sport but if you fight dogs you should serve jail time. why because society is more comfortable having a damn pet than a child they forget that humans are the dominant species.i guess if the goverment makes money off it (permit) then its ok to kill animals otherwise youre a brut !!

I really can't understand the deep hatred for Vick. I am a biologist by trade and appreciate and love all God's creatures, but to kill an animal is not murder; not even in the bibble that all these idiots like to thump. I think 2 years in jail, and the loss of his entire fortune is a bit much for killing dogs! Yes, I said it, so go ahead and blast me! I have owned dogs, cats, hampsters, etc. practically everything that my two kids could find to bring home, but they are still just animals! How come none of you cried whe Big Ben raped a girl after getting her drunk? Who would you rather have as a neighbor? I'll take Vick. Fido! Fido? Here boy! Where are you? Well, at least my daughter is safe...

The SPCA kills more dogs, cats, squirrels, chip monks and dinosaurs than Mike Vick! Get off it! I breed dogs professionally and sorry knuckle heads, pets are very important but they do not equate to humans! I guess Tucker needs gossip to increase his chance of getting another show. Wasn't he on MSNBC at first? Hmm...............

I dont believe a dog is human for someone to say Vick committed murder! Sarah Palin shoots animals as other hunters and the right wanted to make her vice prsident!!! So its not a left or right thing and hunting is the same as torture and killing animals no difference so let this go already and move on!!!!!

Employment is the number 1 combatant of recidivism. Football is Vick's job. It costs a lot more taxpayer dollars to execute or imprison him than it does to have him working for taxible income.

It used to be that the most important part of a sentence came after the 'but'. Now there is a new catch phrase, 'I'm a Christian'. If anyone introduces a comment with that statement, be sure you count your fingers when he/she is done.

Tucker Carlson was at one time a fledgling cable tv opinionator who now plays the small role of fill in web blogger on right wing outlets who want a pretty boy to balance the hot chicks hired by these outlets. Carlson's intellectual depth is shallow and that is why he he has failed to maintain a significant regular place in tv media. Now that he is a web blogger, his only way to get attention is by showing the dark side of his shallowness and a Vick/execution comment is typical. Some think he is outrageous. I think he is nothing.

Mr Carson, go choke on your rhetoric, if we continue to allow fox noise why not let al-qeada also get a daily show, just to balance out all the nut jobs...

In dogfighting, the loser generally gets killed. Thats how it goes. Vick obviously took it a bit further, but some of you labeling him "murderer" and saying you can't root for the eagles anymore are kidding yourselves. There are plenty of countries around the world where Vick could have done what he did LEGALLY. The dinner you ate last night was likely the product of murder and subsequent butchering.

cpg410, "how it goes" is illegal, uncivilized and abhorrent. The dinner I ate last night was not the product of torture and pleasure derived therefrom. Michael Vick tortured animals to death for pleasure and freely admits it. And yes, there are countries around the world where Vick could have tortured dogs legally. They are uncivilized countries and irrelevant to this discussion. There are also countries around the world where your wife and daughter could be gang-raped in public and be mutilated for sport if they do not pretend they liked it. So should we give clemency to gang-rapers here in civilized society? If so, electrocute your little girl next time she talks back. Hey, it's legal somewhere.

Let the man make his living and move on. This is beyond low and the media will do and say anything for ratings. It is a shame that the dogs were killed, it happened, he apologized, it is not uncommon to do what he did in his old environment. In any case, he did the time, paid dearly by losing everything we praised him to so, now to jump on the negative band wagon....why? By the way, just like all the Presidents before him, my wish is for everyone to give him the respect he earned, good bad or indifferent, he is PRESIDENT Obama, NOT Obama, if not the man, respect the position.

What's hilarious is that now that their right-wing masters at Fox News told them to hate Vick, all the die-hard fascists among the Eagles' fans will now hate him, not because they care about dogs, but because they were just following orders. Let's be realistic, the right-wingers on Philly.com barely care about people, so I doubt many of them care about dogs. If that were the case, they would be for the closing of Abu Ghraib.

Tucker is a good guy but dead wrong here. In a judicial system fouled up with leftist judicial decisions where the perp gets off for horrid human crimes, dog killers are pathetic and evil but this guy Mike did his time and has supposedly repented. But, with our human crimes, murderers seem to get off, spend time in jail on our tax dollar while executions of all these death row miscreants would be a real item if Tucker had said that and I would agree with him. In fact,we need many more executions for murder than we have which would hit gangs, mass murderers, real sociopaths and vicious killers of children and others where they get off for being.....insane??? Yeah ,like Dr. Lecter.

Tucker Carlson's statement is just an example of stupid rhetoric that comes from 24 hour news stations. They have to fill so much time they are constantly coming up with things merely for shock value. Sometimes one wonders if these people actually hear what they are saying. How silly to start off with "I am a Christian" and then continue on with the need to execute Michael Vick. I'm sure Jesus would be so proud of Tucker.

you can't compare Vick and Palin. Hunting is legal. Dog fighting is not. However, Tucker was just expressing his opinion. Besides, it's not like he wants to pull the switch himself or promoting the execution of Vick. I think Vick should have served 5 years but that's my opinion.

Michael Vick was sentenced according to the law of the land. He served his sentence, and, according to law, paid his debt to society. Lots of people talk about second chances, but rarely do anything about it.Michael Vick is a football player;that's what he does. He was not prohibited by any judge from playing football after his release. Time will tell whether he has been successfully rehabilitated, but so far he seems to be doimg all the right things. As for those who would like to condemn him further..."let he who is without sin cast the first stone."

Amazing, how an idiotic, hateful comment can bring out even more idiotic and hateful comments about fellow human beings. That's right a person, not a burning effigy, or symbol of hatred, as both Obama and Vick have been lumped into the same category because of the color of their skin and who they represent. Disgusting, vile, Hitler Youths who call themselves Christians, or human beings on this site, you have lost the right to speak for humanity, or animals for that matter, justifying death or harm to another human being or our president. No decent, moral person suggests harm to another person, and where did you hear of any people suggesting death to Bush? Really? Even if true, how is that justifiable, wishing that on a person, let alone a President. People like that are traitors to America, just for suggesting that as somehow rational thinking.

Tucker Carlson needs to loosen up the bow tie, its cutting off the oxxygen to his brain. I admit I dislike Vick for what he did, but his (Carlson's) comments were over the top and probably meant to drive people to his conservative website. You'll never hear him calling for war crimes trials for the Bushy's over the iraq war, even though that was a far worse crime than what Vick did, killing hundreds of thousands over a lie.

Some of you people are morons. Obama didn't call Lurie for the sole reason of talking about Michael Vick. He called Lurie to talk about something far more important, alternative energy use at Lincoln Financial Field, he got off topic and he mentioned Michael Vick. He didn't call just because of Michael Vick. People need to pay attention. I love how all the moron Republicans are now making this a big issue when it's clearly one of the biggest NON-issues ever

Where are you coming from? Black folks get away with saying racist things all the time. From Revs. Jess and Al to Barkely they do it on a regular basis and NO ONE ever says a thing. The sad part is you would think people who have been victims would be the last to repeat that behavior! Farve got much more coverage than Vick for far less of a "crime". Talk about hypocrisy!!
Things are changing and blacks are finding that color really doesn't matter any more and it's simply hard work that will get you what you want. Unfortunately, if it weren't for the radical Liberals pulling the race card on everyone who disagreed with the President's POLICIES we might even be further along. After all he didn't win with just the minority vote and it's sad to see things aren't getting that much better even after what could have been a huge turning point. It's really about power not race and no matter what color people are power rules and that's what actually makes us all the same...like it or not.

When Tucker Carlson or any of the other supposedly "right wing loons" makes a movie about the assassination of Barack Obama, and that movie wins multiple awards at the Cannes Film Festival, let me know.

Between 2001-2009, there were mainstream journalists far more prominent than Tucker Carlson wishing Goerge Bush dead and outwardly confessing their rabid hatred of him. When it gets that bad for Obama, call me.

It's my understanding that Vick had more than a "second" chance! If he were some poor schmo, Jeff L wouldn't care! That being said, execution, maybe not, but, leave it to the President of a country that is drowning in economic hardships, two wars, blistering frustration, to "weigh in" on the controversy. Another beer summit in the making! For what it's worth, the day the Eagles brought in Vick, they brought in the karma of all of the dogs he murdered....sorry to all those fans, but they should never know a win while he's onboard...Tucker may be overboard in execution, but certainly no glory should go to this guy!

I love how dog lovers get outraged over abused animals, but have zero outrage for how Ben Roethlisberger treats women, or for how Ray Lewis became an accessory to murder after-the-fact by obstructing a murder investigation in which he knew the identity of the perpetrator. Actual human beings involved, and no outrage.

The term "murder" specifically refers to the unjustified taking of HUMAN LIFE, not animals. So to call Vick a murderer is to equate dogs to humans.

Assuming humans and dogs ARE equals, one would then think that dog lovers would be equally irate when a QB treats women the way Vick treats dogs, or when a human hides information that would lead to the apprehension of an actual murderer.

The silence on those fronts from the dog lovers leads me to conclude they have more compassion for animals than for humans.

So you've posed that question to every person that has a pet? You asked them if they were outraged by what Big Ben did and what Ray Lewis did? And all of them said they don't care?

Here's a question for you that hopefully doesn't cause your head to explode from thinking too hard: how would you rank these 3 in order of how society should value them - a rapist, the victim of said rapist, or the dog that helps the rape victim recover from ptsd (post-traumatic stress disorder)? I would venture to guess most people would rank the rape victim first, dog second, and the scum rapist third. So you see, in some cases we should have more compassion for animals than SOME humans.

I too believe that execution is silly and extreme to even suggest. However, to bring up the parallel is not without value. Michael Vick's indictment, freely available online, refers to numerous times that Vick, alone and with others, executed dogs for not winning fights or for becoming weak (i.e. injured) as a result of a fight. I am not suggesting that we execute Vick for losing a football game, but it is reasonable to force him to see that execution is exactly how he dealt with a dog that didn't win. And the dogs in this case didn't even choose to fight, nor were they paid huge sums of money and given alcohol-soaked, pistol-friendly birthday parties. For those who would say, "It's just dogs," I agree that mankind is higher in the food chain than dogs. It is how we treat the least among us that illustrates our character. He tortured for the pleasure of torturing. That's not a mistake but a tragic and permanent flaw in his humanity. And for the record, he has done only as much as he was forced to do by Andy Reid and the courts, none of it voluntarily or with heart.

Did he really have to call the Uconn womens coach during the press conference and make a scene. He has no business getting involved in the vick case, he's got bigger things to worry about. And shows why such GREAT AMERICANS like John Adams and Thomas Jefferson thought organized religions, and "christians" in particular, were dangerous, violent, infantile and backwards.

Even though I am not the biggest Vick fan, I can't agree at all with Tucker Carlson here. First of all, Tucker, be honest: the only reason you commented on this story is because Obama was involved. It is Obama whom the folks at Fox News hate, not Michael Vick. Carlson, like Ed Rendell, is simply using a football story for his own purposes.
