The Battle by the Bay in Atlantic City was one of the first "showcase" events in South Jersey boys' basketball.

Now, there's one every weekend -- or so it seems.

But the Battle by the Bay was something unique when it started in 1995. This year marks the 20th edition of the event.

One of the highlights will be Friday night, when Atlantic City plays St. Augustine Prep at 8.

AC (8-2) is No. 2 in The Inquirer's Top 10. SAP (12-1) is No. 7.

Other highlights include Pitman vs. Medford Tech and Holy Spirit vs. Wildwood Catholic on Saturday, as well as St. Joseph of Metuchen -- featuring 7-foot Kentucky commit Karl Towns -- vs. Newark Tech on Sunday.

As always, the showcase ends with the annual battle between Atlantic City and Pleasantville on Sunday afternoon.

Tickets are $8 for each session.

Here's the schedule

Friday:

Sanford (Del.) vs. Rancocas Valley, 6

St. Augustine vs. Atlantic City, 8

Saturday:

Ocean City (girls) vs. Point Pleasant Boro, 11

Pitman vs. Medford Tech, 1230

Linden vs. Southern, 5

Holy Spirit vs. Wildwood Catholic, 630

Sunday:

St. Joseph Metuchen vs. Newark Tech, noon

Pleasantville vs. Atlantic City, 130
