Baseball: Eastern's Tierno signs with La Salle

Eastern's Nick Tierno on Thursday signed a letter of intent to attend La Salle University on a basball scholarship.

Tierno, who was recruited as a middle infielder and catcher, batted .452 last season. He led the Vikings with 29 runs and 25 RBIs.

Tierno is a three-year varsity player and two-time member of the Olympic Colonial Carpenter Cup squad. He has more than 90 career hits and likely will become the first Eastern player to registered more than 100 career hits.

He will play under coach Mike Lake at La Salle in the Atlantic 10 Conference.
