Owen Demmerly scored four goals, including the 200th of his career, to lead Shawnee to an 11-4 victory over Kingsway in the state Group 3 boys lacrosse tournament on Tuesday.

Jake Dean and Kyle Borbi added two goals each for Shawnee (15-5), the No. 7 seed.

The Renegades, who have won 12 of 13 and six in a row, advanced to face second-seeded Ridgewood in the state quarterfinals on Thursday.

Ryan Davidson scored two goals and had an assist and goalie Conor Beers made 12 saves for 10th-seeded Kingsway (15-6).

Demmerly is the first Shawnee player to score 200 goals. He reached the milestone early in the third quarter, and quickly added No. 201 to give the Renegades an 8-3 lead.

"It's an awesome feeling," Demmerly said of scoring 200 goals. "It's very exciting for me but I didn't want to focus on that and not keep track of the game. That was more important."

Kingsway broke to a 2-0 lead but Shawnee outscored the Dragons, 11-1, over the next 40 minutes of play.

Shawnee goalie Reece Tursi made seven saves.

"It was our best defensive performance of the season," Shawnee coach Tim Gushue said.
