Football: WJFL schedule

Timber Creek gets a schedule befitting a defending undefeated sectional champion and Rancocas Valley returns a little to its South Jersey roots in the new WJFL schedule, which the league released tonight.

In addition to playing a tough division schedule that includes Camden Catholic, Paul VI and Moorestown, Timber Creek will jump two divisions for three of its cross-over games and play WJFL American teams Eastern (weekend of Sept. 14), Williamstown (Sept. 28) and Lenape (Oct. 12).

Rancocas Valley, which has not played a SJ opponent other than Pemberton in the last two regular seasons, still is in a division with all Mercer County teams. But the Red Devils will play Eastern, Lenape and Burlington Township in cross-over games, the latter on Thanksgiving weekend.

Holy Cross and Willingboro will play on Thanksgiving weekend, too.

Defending Group 1 champion Glassboro will face Pennsville in a rematch of the 2011 sectional title game on Oct. 26.

The opener of the loaded WJFL Constitution division will feature Camden Catholic at Timber Creek on Sept. 7 -- a game likely to match preseason Top 5 teams.

Pennsauken will play at Cherokee Oct. 26 in a cross-over game that will match teams that have won the last three SJ Group 4 titles. The Indians won the title in 2011 and the Chiefs won it in 2010 and 2009.

Shawnee will play at Williamstown in a cross-over game Sept. 14.

Cherry Hill East moved up to the American Division in the WJFL's re-alignment and the Cougars have some tough cross-overs, too -- at Pennsauken Sept. 14, at Moorestown Sept. 28 and home vs. Paul VI on Oct. 12.
