Boys' soccer: Cherokee beats Eastern, 3-0

Mike Ryan scored two goals as No. 1 Cherokee beat No. 3 Eastern, 3-0, Monday in an Olympic American boys' soccer game.

Ryan scored off an assist from Jason Spieker with just 37 seconds remaining in the first half to snap a scoreless tie.

Ryan and Steve Scian added goals in the second half as Cherokee improved to 5-0 overall and 3-0 in the Olympic American.

Goalie Cory Brodkin made 10 saves for Eastern (3-1-1, 0-1-1), including a diving stop to prevent Ryan from getting a hat trick late in the game.

Ryan has eight goals this season.

"Some people can play the piano, Mike just finds the back of the net," Cherokee coach Anthony Gallo said.
