Football: Delsea's Moffa out for season

Delsea senior center Joe Moffa will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury, according to coach Sal Marchese.

Moffa, the team's top lineman and captain, has been hampered by an ailment with his kneecap for the last two seasons. He aggravated the injury again early in Delsea's 16-14 loss to Kingsway on Friday.

Marchese said Moffa likely will need surgery.

Delsea, the defending WJFL Royal champion and among the favorites to win SJ Group 3, faces a tough test Friday at Timber Creek.

With another loss, Delsea would fall to 0-2 in the division and face an uphill battle to qualify for the tournament.

Timber Creek, which beat Cumerland 19-0 on opening night, is No. 8 in The Inquirer Top 10. Delsea is No. 9.
