Cherokee QB out for season

Cherokee senior quarterback Casey Coyle will miss this season with a stress fracture in his back, Chiefs' coach P.J. Mehigan confirmed today.

Coyle was projected to be the Chiefs' starting quarterback. Coyle had played some running back and linebacker in previous seasons, along with serving as the team's place-kicker.

Mehigan said senior Billy Cummiskey will get the first shot at replacing Coyle. Mehigan said Cummiskey will get most of the snaps with the first team in Friday's scrimmage at Hammonton.

Cherokee went 23-1 the last two seasons with Andy Martin at quarterback. Martin now is playing football at Rowan.
