Michael Vick may be making the rounds bringing his anti-dog fighting message to Philadelphia school children, but there's one audience he is not interested in meeting with: his victims.

A pit bull advocacy group in Oakland, Calif. says Vick declined an invitation to visit eight of his former dogs this weekend when the Eagles take on the Oakland Raiders.

The group BAD RAP (Bay Area Doglovers Responsible About Pitbulls) told The Associated Press it extended the invitation through the Eagles to Vick last week to view his former dogs that were part of the dog fighting operation at Bad Newz Kennels in Virginia.

BAD RAP co-founder Tim Racer said the group picked a location that would have allowed Vick to view the dogs from behind a window at a distance that satisfied the conditions of his parole that bar him from being near animals.

"We understand Vick is trying to right his wrongs and is very interested in redemption, but you can't find redemption without acknowledging your victims," Racer told the AP. "Making amends to the dogs themselves would have helped to create some closure for many of us, especially those people who worked so hard to keep them from being destroyed. It seems that Vick is not ready to go there."

Oakland-based BAD RAP brought 10 of Vick's dogs into its foster program after being given permission from the federal government to evaluate and rescue as many of the dogs as possible.

Sunday's game against the Raiders is the first road game for Vick since being reinstated to the NFL following an 18-month prison sentence for his involvement in a dogfighting ring. The animal rights group, In Defense of Animals plans to stage a protest before the game, saying Vick has not shown remorse for his actions.

oh please, this is ridiculous to think a dog will understand an apology. Simply put BAD RAP just wants free publicity.

LG : Your a idiot. BAD RAP is a wonderful organization that took in those dogs! It isn't about saying sorry its about looking at those poor animals and seeing what he did. As a owner of four rescue pitbulls, I hope Vick burns.

I agree balsac. balsac lol. What do they want? The dogs aren't gonna cry and ask him why did you do this to us? At this point i'm more concerned with Vick doing something on the field besides handing the ball off and running for 2 yard gains.

publicity stunt. This serves no purpose. He knows what he did. Maybe he should visit the graves of the dogs he killed or lay flowers on exact plot of ground where he electrocuted Fido.

Maybe they should let Vick take one home to show that he's really made amends. And put me down in the "Bad Rap wants free publicity" camp. Men don't apologize to animals.

"saying Vick has not shown remorse for his actions.".......The problem with the "no remorse" position is who is to determine whether Vick has shown enough "remorse". And since ANY animal activist group can pop up and declare that Vick hasn't shown enough remorse, this no doubt, will be a never ending refrain. Never mind that the Eagles are cowering down to local animal rights activist in starting TAWK.....Besides, Vick can't get close to the animals. The dogs wouldn't be able to see him, they probably could smell him, but if they could get close enough they'd probably jump on him and start licking him.

BADRAP contacted the associated press just to say vick declined? explain to me how that could possibly not be a bid for publicity? we don't know vick's reasons for declining. i have pets and i think torturing animals is sick, but "make ammends to the dogs themselves" is anthropomorphizing, and the organizations sense of "closure" should not be dependendant on it. YOUPEOPLE is right, what's with the always passing and hardly running? for all this controversy he's costing the city, i for one am not impressed.

What kind of moron would think that this is about the dog forgiveing Vick. It is about him showing remorse and prooving that he is willing to do anything in his attempt to rivive his reputation. He, as expected, is only willing to be seen in his $2000 suit saying barely contrite statements which equate to "Don't get caught" that is all I have gotten from anything he has said. He has caused me to abandon the Eagles (Who I Love) for this entire season, so he will never receive any forgiveness for me or anyone with a brain and a moral compass.

made it pretty far before someone started using words like moron. do some people just log on and look for an opposing viewpoint so they can be harsh and judgmental? relax, it may save you from having a heart attack someday.
