An African tortoise who escaped from a Chester Springs home a week ago is safe after being picked up by a Good Samaritan and taken to a reptile rescue in Lancaster County.

Nala, a 52-pound sulcata tortoise, disappeared through an open gate last week, touching off a frantic search for the wandering reptile. My colleague Peter Mucha has the story.

A search is underway for the right “dawg” and they hope the barnyard will soon house endangered geese and other animals.
