Police to file charges in German Shepherd shooting case

UPDATE: Cruelty charges are pending against a Cambria County man accused of shooting a German Shepherd dog that survived a bullet to the head and was rescued in a church parking lot.

News reports say that state police will file charges against the unnamed man. Meanwhile, church members say they have been unfairly criticized for their treatment of the 3-year-old stray who first appeared at the church New Year's Eve. Dogs Deserve Better, the rescue group that took in the dog in and got him medical care (the vet bill is $700 so far), has received applications from 15 potential adopters.
