Philly doc named finalist in Petplan Vet of the Year contest

A Philadelphia veterinarian is among three finalists in the first Petplan Vet of the Year contest.

Dr. Corinne Majeska, of Companion Pet Hospital, made the final cut along with Dr. Richard Palmquist of Centinela Animal Hospital in Inglewood CA and Dr. Alan Stewart of San Francisco Veterinary Specialists.

The three finalists were chosen from among 2,000 vets nationwide who were nominated for the award sponsored by the Philadelphia-based pet insurance company.

The 2012 finalist veterinarians were selected for their impact on veterinary medicine, commitment to providing an exceptional level of care to pets and their exemplary customer service to “wow” pet parents.

Majeska's client Amy Berger nominated her for her exemplary service.

“Companion Pet Hospital, established and run by Dr. Majeska, is incredible. If only my own doctors’ office cared about me the way Companion cares for our furry children," Berger wrote.

"They always, always send a follow up e-mail after every appointment, vaccination, grooming or phone call. I have a neighbor who recently had her dog in for surgery and they would e-mail her pictures post-op to show that her baby was doing ok. They truly care. I think that that is just incredible.”

Berger also noted that Majeska runs a "green" clinic that is working toward LEED certification and a low carbon footprint.

The winner, who will receive an all-expense paid trip to the UK in April to accept the award as part of the 2012 World Veterinary Congress, will be announced Wednesday.
