Hi Mary, I have a very senior German Shepherd Dog, Augustus, he's 11. I know every day is a blessing to have him at this point in his life. He's on a senior diet and for what it's worth he's in as good a shape as he can be. He's on Rimadyl for arthritis, as well as a joint health supplement. He's still the king of the neighborhood, but it seems that he gets a little slower each day. He walks 3 times a day and he used to be out in front of me with that unmistakable Shepherd trot. Now he sort of lags behind me and lumbers along at his own slow pace. He's also getting a little wobbly in the rear end. I know it's normal for one his age, but he still has plenty of drive. He sees the Vet pretty regularly but the age changes seem more apparent every day. Do we need more meds? , more exercise? This is hard.
