Apparently Eagles fans can't wear their opinions about Michael Vick on their sleeve or anywhere else for that matter.
Here's the story from my Inquirer colleague Don McKee:
A fan from Delaware County said she was barred from Lincoln Financial Field before Sunday's Eagles game until she agreed to turn inside out a T-shirt critical of quarterback Michael Vick.
Kori Martin, 32, of Broomall, said she was wearing a T-shirt bearing the words "Losers fight pitbulls" on the front, with Vick's name and No. 7 crossed out. On the back, she said, were the words "You don't deserve a second chance."
Martin said she was stopped at the gate by security guards who said that she could not wear the shirt because it was offensive to players and that the policy came from top management.
After some discussion, she agreed to wear the shirt inside out and was allowed to enter the stadium.
Pamela Browner Crawley, the team's senior vice president of public affairs, said she knew of no specific policy banning such shirts.
Martin was unmollified.
"Not only has Jeffrey Lurie and the Eagles organization supported a dog murderer by signing this convict," she said, "but now they want to take away my freedom of speech just because I don't agree with them?"
Comment removed.
I'm an animal advocate (I have 2 rescues)and Eagles fan but I'm also a human being. He (Vick) went to jail for 2 years and is paying back all the money that is owed. He goes to speak out on dog fighting as required. Now I don't know if Vick is remorseful but they caught him and he's doing his time STILL. I wish people were this vigorous in condeming child molesters and rapists. They love to put this guy out there (I personally think a lot is about racism) but when is someone gonna start yapping about that Garrido guy or who killed the little girl (Haliegh). Vick was already tried and convicted can we now move on to other people who need to go to jail also? Why are they still harping on him? If they would pass a law that animal cruelty will get an automatic 3-5 years in jail (thats right), it at least would be a start. Lots of drug dealers and thugs start with animal abuse first before graduating to harder felonies. I work in a law office and no, I'm not african-american. racers7
racers7: We do speak out against the molesters and rapists; race is a tired arguement--how about taking responsibilty for your actions? The animals can't speak for themselves--Vick can--he's mad because he got caught--let's stop wasting our pity on someone who hasn't earned it! powercarole
Fascists! She wasn't yelling "Fire!" Let the lady speak! ratbag
Powercarole- No one is giving the man pity . WE ALL KNOW WHAT HE DID. Many people don’t own animals but rapists and molesters have networks (sting operations net more than 10 molesters at a time). If they start cracking down on them sooner we could potentially get rid of animal abusers also. How does marching around yelling "Animal Abuser" to the same person they jailed for 2 years change his outcome. They are not putting him back in jail when he already went there. And by the way- race is not a tired argument (spelled correctly). Pennsylvania is filled with puppy farms run by amish families yet I don't see any outrage filling the pages of the daily news or internet on these families and they got more people hiding animals within their communities. And why aren't you promoting or volunteering at the SPCA or the Humane Society? They are backed up and need more help than crybabies like you. You can donate old blankets and food also because of the economy. racers7
