Bella and Tarra: Mourning the end of a special friendship

Bella and Tarra.

They were inseperable.

A stray mutt and a rescued elephant who bonded in the most extraordinary way at a Tennessee sanctuary.

Last week their nearly 10-year friendship ended when Bella was found dead on the sanctuary grounds. Experts believe she was killed by coyotes. The loss took a toll on Tarra, who keepers said was visibly depressed.

The chief of elephant husbandry at the sanctuary also says Bella was likely not attacked where she was found, leading officials to conclude only one thing: that Tarra had moved her friend's body.
