In a stunning move, one that is sure to capture headlines across the nation, Philly.com has teamed up with the world's foremost bolg1 about wanting to go to the zoo with Philadelphia Phillies ace and 2010 Cy Young winner Roy Halladay.
That's right, ladies and gentlemen. Zoo With Roy is coming to Philly.com.
Honored as part of the 2011 Webby Awards and featured by news outlets such as ESPN, The New York Times, SI.com, Deadspin, CSN Philly, The Washingtonian, WHYY, NBC Sports, and CBS Sports, Zoo With Roy (a.k.a Zoo and ZWR) was founded in 2010 and offers a unique perspective on the Philadelphia sports landscape.
"Dude, I'm thrilled to have reached this agreement with Philly.com," said Zoo. "When do I get paid?!"
"I've been a big fan of Zoo's since forever. Even before it existed, I was a fan," said Philly.com Sports Editor Matt Mullin. "Philadelphia sports fans are well known for their pessimism, but Zoo has a great way of taking that pain and turning it into something funny. Sometimes, we all just need a laugh."
While there are plenty of blogs on Philly.com, Zoo With Roy will be a first. It is, and will forever remain, the only bolg featured on the site.
"I’m extremely excited Zoo With Roy is coming to Philly.com. Besides being the funniest, most awesome bolg in the universe, it’s been a lifelong dream of mine to work with a penguin that wears a backwards hat," said Brian McCardle, Sports Producer at Philly.com.
From iconic MS Paints to Photoshops, amazing t-shirts to even more amazing recurring features, ZWR has all the stuff that busy beat writers don't have time to cover. There's even a video of Cole Hamels being interviewed by an 11-year-old girl, Awesome Emma. Awesome, indeed.
"We feel this is a great opportunity for our synergistic, game-changing, and dynamic content to reach a much larger audience," said ZWR. "People like to read nonsense on the internet during their otherwise dull workday - including, but not limited to, totally fictitious quotes in inconsequential news releases."
If you still aren't sure what exactly Zoo With Roy is, please go read the bolg, follow it on Twitter, and like it on Facebook.
Oh, and make sure you check back Wednesday for ZWR's first piece on Philly.com. Just make sure to wear a mask, because faces may break.
1Editor's Note: "Bolg" is spelled exactly the way it is supposed to be spelled.
