Weird Super Bowl: Eagles player congratulates Belichick, Tom Brady's jersey was stolen

Historic. That's about the only word you can use to describe the New England Patriots'  amazing 34-28 overtime win over the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl LI.

We all witnessed what happened on the field: Julian Edelman's logic-defying catch, the ease with which Tom Brady's team converted two different two-point conversions, the appalling play-calling that led the Falcons to punt with  3 minutes, 39 seconds left rather than kick what would have been a game-sealing field goal.

But off the field, there was an almost equally astounding array of weird and hilarious moments. Here's a round-up:

Someone stole Brady's Super Bowl jersey

Brady now has more Super Bowl rings (five) than any other quarterback, and more Super Bowl MVP awards (four) than any player, but one thing he doesn't have is his own game jersey.

"Someone stole my game jersey," Brady told Kraft in the locker room following the game, who gave his quarterback some advice where he might find it.

"You better look online," Kraft said.

"It was right here. I know exactly where I put it," Brady reportedly said, calling over security staff and team assistants to help him search for it.

"This is not good," he said. "It was right here and now I don't have it. Not good."

While walking out of the stadium, a USA Today reporter asked Brady if he managed to find the missing jersey.

"No," he replied. "It is going to be on eBay soon, I guess."

"A lot has transpired in the last two years," Kraft said. "And I don't think that needs any explanation."

President Trump wasn't the only person to bail on the Patriots

President Trump, a lover of all things Brady, Belichick, and Kraft, picked the Patriots to win the Super Bowl by eight points. But minutes after Tevin Coleman's touchdown put the Falcons up 28-3 in the third quarter, Trump left his party at his Mar-a-Lago resort to retire to his seaside estate.

Trump wasn't the only Patriots fan to leave the game early. Boston native Mark Wahlberg was caught on video leaving the stadium prior to the Patriots' epic comeback, a move he later explained on Instagram.

Even Brady super fan Al Morganti bailed on the Patriots, admitting to Angelo Cataldi on WIP Monday morning that he turned off the game after the Falcons went up by 25 points. He didn't abandon ship completely, though; he listened to the rest of the game on the radio.

One Patriots player won't be going to the White House

Trump's short presidency has polarized just about everyone, and it will cause at least one Patriots player to stay home when the team travels to the White House.

"I'm not going to go," Patriots tight end Martellus Bennett said following the team's comeback victory, adding that he's "not really worried about" Kraft's reaction.

"It is what it is," Bennett continued. "People know how I feel about it. Just follow me on Twitter."
