Video: Joe Conklin and daughter Casey Conklin give Eagles coach Andy Reid the Taylor Swift treatment

POSTED: Wednesday, November 21, 2012, 9:35 AM

Famed local comedian Joe Conklin and his daughter, Casey, have teamed up on a music video that mocks Andy Reid's failures this season.

The video is based on Taylor Swift's song "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together." It's a fair bet that many Eagles fans have been saying just that to Reid throughout this season.

By the way, the Eagles announced Wednesday morning that Taylor Swift will perform at Lincoln Financial Field on July 20 as part of next year's tour schedule. We doubt Reid will still be around at that point, but if he is... how about a duet?

Here are the lyrics to the Conklin version of the song. All words are sung by Casey Conklin unless otherwise noted:

[Andy Reid in a voiceover, with an actor portraying him on camera: Alright, got to do a better job, I'll take full responsibility, time's yours]

I remember when you screwed up the first time
Fourteen years later is enough, cause like
We haven't had a sack in a month
And you say, you'll do a, better, job

[Reid in a voiceover, with an actor portraying him on camera: Better job.]

What?
Then you come out again and say
Listen, I'm taking full responsibility. I've had it.
Every week is Groundhog Day,
I say: I hate you. You say, you'll fix it. Times yours

[Reid in a voiceover, with an actor portraying him on camera: Time's yours]

Oooh you screwed it up again last night
But Oooh, this time I'm telling you, I'm telling you
We are never ever ever gonna win with Andy
We are never ever ever gonna win with Andy

You go fire your friends,
Always your friends, it's never you
But we are never ever ever gonna win with Andy

[Joe Conklin on screen: What do they call the definition of insanity?]

Like ever...
I'm really gonna miss our Monday talk
And your, funny way managing of the clock.
Your stupid, play calling in the red zone
And all the, fourth quarter leads that you've blown.

[Casey Conklin stops singing, and says in a speaking tone: So he comes out again and he says: "I gotta do a better job" And I'm like, "I mean, this is exhausting, you know"]

We are never going to win with anything with Andy ...like ever.
We are never ever ever gonna win with Andy

[Reid voiceover: Better job]

We are never ever ever gonna win with Andy

[Reid voiceover: Gotta do a better job]

You go fire your friends,
Always your friends, it's never you

[Reid voiceover: I gotta look in the mirror]

But we are never ever ever gonna win with Andy

Since when is parody supposed to be classy? Parody is one of the basic rights that seperates free a free country from a facist one. I always thought that Andy Reid was a good guy and a bad coach. Now I am seeing that he is a bad coach and not such a good guy. Not to kick a man when he's down on a personal level but when you look at what happened to his family you can say that he messed up somewhere. He can't make the excuse that he spent all of his time building up a dominant football team because it's gotten progressively worse for the past 9 years. Conklin and his daughter at least put something together that was funny and timely and you can see put some actual thought into it. Andy Reid has shown up at work and managed to put to gether a long string of embarassing performances and seasons for that matter. Why does he get a pass? Is he not expected to perform as a coach, just show up? Is it okay to ask your fans to put up countless millions of dollars to support the team and then not have any accountability when they can't manage to put together a single quarter of solid football, let alone an entire game? Kick a man when he's down? This guy has fired much of his support staff and some coaches over the past 4 seasons when the team was tanking yet failed to truly hold himself responsible for the teams horrible performances. I think he's kicked quite a few of his employees when they were down over the past few years.

Did any of you think that Andy has had the worst year ever?
I think he deserves more from Phila.

Andy Reid should have been fired when his team has NO TWO MINUTE OFFENSE PREPARED for.....THE FREAKING SUPERBOWL !!! Andy Reid went into the SUPERBOWL with no 2 Minute Offense game plan. McNugget was out of shape and had no idea what plays to call during the last 2 minutes. Time outs, clock mismanagement, unprepared QB, horrible play calling. The last two minutes of the Superbowl was an Andy Reid spectacular. Should have been fired then.

All those Andy lovers get a grip especially you 24sdad you live in the past . This guy is so over the song is a joke which you do not get plus your sense of humor has got to be at an all time low like Reids job performance.

Is there a betting pool on what section at The Linc will first start singing the chorus "We are never, ever gonna win with Andy..."?

typical classless Philadelphia response. Agree with some of the poster here. It's time the press started showing more respect for athletes and coaches in Philly. They're out there trying to do something the writers only dreamed about doing as a key. Because they couldn't they sit behind a typewriter and rudely insult other men. It's been this way since I was a kid growing up in Philly and Broomall. So it probably won't change anytime soon. But if the press showed some respect, then maybe it would temper some of the fan reactions. When an athlete has a bad day, or a bad year how different is that from any of us. I never lose respect for an athlete. But have no respect for writers like Sheridan, Ford, Hayes who think they're cool by being sarcastic and negative about other guys having a bad day. Happy Thanksgiving

@24sdad: My Thanksgiving wish for you is that the worst thing that ever happens in your life is that you lose a job that has enabled you to put about 20 million bucks in the bank and get banished to your multi-million dollar home in La Jolla during the holiday season. I know I'd be pretty OK if it was the worst thing that ever happened to me. Until then you might want to get off your moral high horse, the video was funny, and as many here have told you public scrutiny goes with the career he chose.
