The Los Angeles Clippers routed the Detroit Pistons, 129-97, at the Staples Center on Sunday night, but that's not important. What is important is the absolutely devastating dunk Clippers center DeAndre Jordan threw down in the second quarter. That is what will be remembered for a long time.
Point guard Chris Paul dribbles the ball to the right wing and casually tosses the ball into the middle of the lane. Pistons 6-foot-3 point guard Brandon Knight is the unfortunate soul who jumps to try and secure the ball. Well, the 6-foot-11 Jordan predictably gets to the ball first, chucks Knight to the ground and uncorks a thunderous slam that sent all witnesses into a wide-variety of emotions. Some of those highlights:
- I counted one teammate who had enough courage to approach Jordan after the dunk.
- Paul shoves Jordan away and sways amid the carnage that is Knight's body. The Pistons successfully pick Knight back up after a couple seconds.
