The guy who lost the ring before proposing at Yankee Stadium is from Pennsylvania

Some people out there are against the idea of wedding proposals at sports events. I'm sure Tuesday night's almost-but-fortunately-not-in-the-end-debacle at Yankee Stadium only made them more resolute in that opinion.

Updated Wednesday afternoon.

Some people out there are against the idea of wedding proposals at sports events. I'm sure Tuesday night's almost-but-fortunately-not-in-the-end debacle at Yankee Stadium made them only more resolute in that opinion.

But I'd think that even some of the haters could spare some sympathy for Andrew Fox.

(If you're wondering why a guy from western Pennsylvania is a Yankees fan, the answer is he isn't originally from Western Pennsylvania. Fox is a Bethlehem native, as noted here by the Easton Express-Times. He graduated from Liberty High School in 2005.)

In the middle of the fifth inning, the stadium cameras zoomed in on Fox and Terwilliger. He got down on one knee, pulled a little box out of his pocket, opened it, and ...

... the ring wasn't there.

This, as you might imagine, caused a bit of a scene. Fans in nearby seats joined in a frantic search for the ring. Within moments, it all escalated to being worthy of live coverage by the YES Network and ESPN.

Viewers across the world watched as the search went on for nearly five minutes.

Fortunately, the ring was found - in the cuffs of Terwilliger's jeans, of all places.

And in the end, she said yes.
