Expectations are low for the Sixers this season. So low in fact, that Las Vegas odds makers expect them to have the lowest win total of any NBA team for the 2013-14 season.
Online sportsbook Bovada released its list of projected team win totals, and not surprisingly the Sixers are at the bottom of the barrel.
The Sixers over/under win total was placed at 17, four wins fewer than the second-to-last Phoenix Suns.
The Sixers, who have a new general manager, a new coach, and a plethora of new players, are the only team projected to win less than twenty games.
Aside from the Suns, some other squads that will be competing with the Sixers for the league’s worst record include the Boston Celtics (over/under 27.5 wins), the Charlotte Bobcats (26), the Utah Jazz (25) and the Orlando Magic (24).
The defending champion Miami Heat have the highest projected over/under at 61.5, only 44.5 more projected wins than the 76ers.
The upcoming Sixers season is sure to be a struggle, but if Bovada’s odds hold accurate, then at least they won’t break their own worst all-time record in an 82-game season, so that’s something.
Plus, it would put the team in prime position to land a top pick in next June’s draft, which would be ideal as the team continues to rebuild.
There are some potential positives in the franchise’s future. Just don’t bet on them this season, unless it’s to lose, a lot.
