Steph Curry misses all 11 of his threes and it doesn't matter

A little record was set Monday night at the Wells Fargo Center, but don't worry if you missed it. So did Steph Curry.

The Warriors two-time reigning MVP sharpshooter missed all 11 of his three-point attempts and shot just 7-for-23 from the field (30.4 percent). It was the most three-point attempts without a make Curry has ever had in his career.

"I think the combination of Steph being off a little bit (Monday) night, and I give credit to our guys of trying to be aware of where he is," Sixers coach Brett Brown said.

Curry, however, didn't see it that way.

"Not to discredit anything they did, but in the first half we had a lot of open looks and they just didn't go in," said Curry, after the Warriors shot just 1-for-16 from three in the opening 24 minutes.

And he's right. He was open on most of his looks, but clanged his way to a dubious career record, except on the two airballs he shot. Gasp.

"There's the law of averages," he said calmly after gnawing on some Swedish Fish candy postgame. "I don't think I'll go 0-for again, but I won't ever guarantee a situation where I'll come out blazing either. I'll have that mindset, for sure. But who knows what will happen. That's the beauty of the league. Another game (Tuesday night in Washington) to try to forget."

Curry's previous worst outing from distance was an 0-for-10 he put up just this past Nov. 4 in a loss at the Lakers. The next game, three days later at home against New Orleans, he set the NBA record by hitting 13 threes (on 17 attempts) and scored a season-high 46 points.

The Warriors play at Washington on Tuesday night. They host the Sixers on March 14.

"What I love about Steph is that he went 0-for-11 from three and you wouldn't know it to look at his face," Golden State head coach Steve Kerr said. "He never loses confidence. He never hangs his head. It's a sign of a guy with the ultimate confidence in his ability."
