Former Phillies outfielder Shane Victorino was injured Sunday as the Boston Red Sox fell to the Toronto Blue Jays, 12-4, at Fenway Park.
In the fourth inning, Victorino tried to run down a deep fly ball hit by Blue Jays second baseman Emilio Bonifacio.
Victorino disregarded the warning track and ran full speed into the right field wall as he reached to catch the ball.
After he was treated on the field, Victorino stayed in the game until the seventh inning. However, he was later taken to the hospital for evaluation of his ribs.
The Red Sox have an off day Monday and open a three-game series against the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday. According to ESPNBoston.com, Victorino isn't expected to miss any time.
