Video: Ryan Howard and Mike Trout appear in Subway Super Bowl ad
Subway is celebrating Jared Fogle’s 15 years of staying lean in grand fashion with a 30-second ad to air during the Super Bowl Sunday. The commercial includes a number of cameos from all across the world of sports, including two local names: Phillies first baseman Ryan Howard and Angels outfielder, and Millville N.J. native, Mike Trout.
Howard has appeared in a number of Subway ads to date, but this is Trout’s first major commercial since winning the American League Rookie of the Year and finishing second in the MVP voting. Among the other athletes that make a cameo are former Rutgers football player Eric LeGrand and Giants defensive lineman Justin Tuck.
Ryan Howard is still marketable? PhightinPhil- This "news" is far more important than an accurate and detailed assessment of Howard's achilles. Yum yum, that Clearwater buffet table.

Subway should show Howard striking out and use it to pitch "strike out those calories, get a Subway 10" footlong". 4thand10
This is Ryan's Subway swan song if he doesn't return to form. I'd much rather see a report on his health and Fla activities. He must have a contract or they'd have already dropped him, bottom line. Phils have an awful lot riding on him, we hope he makes it back. PhillySubsMac
Howard burns up a lot of calories striking out 200 times a year. farley
Still waiting for the article laying out what Howard did this offseason to improve his hitting against LH pitching and to learn how to hit a breaking ball. The Yankees, in the 2009 World Series, taught the rest of baseball how to handle Howard. And, Howard has done nothing to adjust. I know he has been injured, but that should not be an excuse for him this offseason. Copper34- What is his incentive? He is already getting paid and his contract is guaranteed. He is as selfish as Rollins and seems even more ambivalent, if that is possible.

With Manuel still running the show, Jim Me Pop Up will reside in his customary lead off spot, either popping up to the shortstop or hittinga weak grounder to the left or right side, while skipping to first base and Howard will be in his customary 4 spot, taking strikes down the middle and flailing at balls way out of the strike zone for strike three, leaving two on base, while Chuckles bobs his head, chomps his pink chew, and cracks jokes with whoever is standing next to him at the railing. Can't wait for the Chuckles show to start. ghost of callison
Foolish people idolizing sports figures. Can't understand why!
You shall have no other gods before me is one of the Ten Commandments found in the Hebrew Bible (לא יהיה־לך אלהים אחרים על־פני Exodus 20:3 = Deuteronomy 5:7). Sportyrider71
I wish all the non Phillies fans would post their comments elsewhere. Ryan Howard is still a very very good player. 60 plus RBIs in half a season on one good leg. Glad a Philadelphia player is being a positive role model. charladan
@sportyrider --ok, but if your name is "sportyrider" and you're commenting on a sports story, I suspect that you are engaged in this bittul torah yourself... besides if one objectively analyzes the players and teams (and some here are even known to be a bit critical now and then) then is is hard oot call it "idolatry" ....as for the bittul and shtus issues, well, there are worse ways of wasting one's time then following the human quest for self-fulfilment, each to his capabilities :) warbiscuit
As the good book says, Howard blows. Campatent
