The Sacramento Kings are doing some exciting things these days. For instance, their franchise is not being uprooted and sent to Seattle. Also, they were just recognized on ESPN's ranking of professional sports franchises. That's them, all the way down there at the bottom.
Naturally, all this fun stuff has gotten the attention of Shaq, who has just become a minority owner of the franchise. His influence is yet to be determined, but in the past he has offered to tutor DeMarcus Cousins and supported the city of Sacramento (vs. moving to Seattle), all after referring to them as the "Sacramento Queens" in 2002-03.
After sitting down with Kings ownership back in June, Shaq was shown plans for a new arena and promptly deemed it "the best arena in the country."
"What interested me in this deal is the new vision, the new Kings, the new everything. I’ve always wanted to be part of something like this…It’s going to be great."
