The Phillies announced today that Marci Schankweiler will be the team's representative in the “All-Stars Among Us” campaign. Marci, along with the other 29 “All-Stars Among Us,” one representing each MLB Club, will attend and be honored during the pre-game ceremony of the 81st Major League Baseball All-Star Game on July 13 on FOX beginning at 8:00 p.m.

“I am so excited to be chosen as this year's Phillies People All-Star, and will wear that Phillies jersey proudly in Anaheim,” said Marci. “It is an honor and a privilege to be selected, as well as it has been an honor and a privilege to help those whose lives have been affected by cancer. My late husband would have been so proud, and I hope to continue the dream of making Crossing the Finish Line available nationwide.”

We recently sat down with Marci and learned about her story. She founded an organization called Crossing the Finish Line after her husband died of testicular cancer, and in 10 years the organization has benefited more than 800 cancer patients and 3,000 caregivers.

Check out the embedded video to learn more about her and her organization, Crossing the Finish Line.

About Pattison Ave.
No matter what color tints the blood pumping through the heart of this sports-crazed city, the artery carrying that passion from the faithful fans to their beloved teams has long been Pattison Avenue.

Paved with triumph and (too much) heartache, the road that runs through the South Philadelphia stadium complex has played many roles for Philadelphia sports fans through the years, at times acting as this city's Broadway, Easy Street, Main Street U.S.A. and Yellow Brick Road.

This blog was created by the Philly.com sports team in that same spirit, offering an eclectic resource for news and nuggets about Philadelphia sports and beyond. Breaking news, analysis, random thoughts, viral videos, odds and ends -- you'll find it all here on Pattison Ave.
