Mel Kiper and Todd McShay gush over Hollins
The ESPN analysts think the Eagles did well with this pick. Very well.
The Eagles drafted North Carolina wide receiver Mack Hollins in the fourth round and to say that ESPN analysts Mel Kiper Jr. and Todd McShay think the Eagles did well would be an understatement.
Here's Kiper:
6-4, 220 pounds. A kid who works hard. A respected leader. Made a lot of big plays. Averaged 19.3 yards a catch before the injury, broken collarbone on October 15th. That set him back, obviously. He had to return from that and try to get ready for the season.
Carson Wentz is going to love this kid. I love that he catches the ball away from his body, makes real good downfield blocks as well. His attitude, his approach, his versatility is top-notch.
And here is McShay:
He is a former walk-on with a chip on his shoulder. He averaged 21 yards per catch and a quarter of his catches went for touchdowns, plus he's an elite blocker. And this is what I love the most: you pop on that special teams tape of North Carolina and you see this over and over again. It really isn't about anything else than want-to. This guy just wants to be the first guy down on kickoff coverage and he is every single time I watch. Love it! Then, as a gunner on the punt team, he goes down and covers like it's the most important thing he's ever going to do in the game of football, every single time.
I think the Philadelphia Eagles just got one of those guys who is going to come in and make a big difference on special teams and offense. He loves playing the game of football.
