Fans petition Eagles to bring back kelly green uniforms

Do you want the Eagles to bring back those bodacious kelly green jerseys? Well, you're not the only one. Cranekicker, the hilarious local twitterer and Zoo With Roy contributor, has written a letter to Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie petitioning that the Birds bring back the old jerseys.

Already sold? Sign the petition here.

If you still need some convincing, hop on over to Zoo With Roy and read the letter. READ IT!

Cranekicker makes some pretty logical points, besides the obvious one that the new Eagles coach is named Chip Kelly. That isn't the main reason for the petition but Cranekicker, who wishes to remain anonymous, told Philly.com that it was just "a bonus to help kick start the process."

"Basically, I don't like the Eagles uniforms. I think they're ugly," Cranekicker said. "I'm not a fan of new uniforms in general. I like the traditional football look with the block letters, kind of like what they did with the Pro Bowl uniforms this season."

But will the petition work?

When asked if he thought it would ever reach Lurie's desk, Cranekicker said, "I'm sure that if it builds enough steam it will. I'm also pretty sure he knows how Philly fans feel about that color, but he probably doesn't care."

Come on, the last Birds championship came in 1960 when they wore those swaggerific jerseys.

As CK writes, "Welllll 1960 was the last title ... we still have no Super Bowl and that’s the ultimate barometer of success so give the fans what we want."

The unis are apt today. They can match the ugly play.

I think most fans would agree the current uniforms are horrible and the color scheme is a reach at best, the best thing to do is simply come up with a new uniform. Make the uniform an infusion of old and new styles, I think that would satisfy the old timers and the new school.

we want to move forward not back...kelly green for third uniform...but i do like black. We want to move forward and if chip kelly has anything to say about it...new uniforms will be as crazy as the ducks have been over the past years... i do know he had nike in his pocket. lets get the kelly green back...the days of reggie and that def..that won...nothing. Stay with midnight green...a lot of fans around the nfl love the eagles jerseys. but we want to get rid of them...we are like andy...we always know better than everyone else but have nothing to show for it.

IMHO, current unis=pro team looking to kick , kelly unis=Div II college team who rarely plays on TV so they don't know how bad they look. P.S. I know its not called Div II anymore, but every level has a championship game so how can you call the top level FBS when it has a championship game also. (HTML deleted)

Kelly Green was the official color of the Eagles, it should have NEVER been changed because the owners wife did not like Kelly Green...why should the traditional color of the Eagles Kelly Green be changed because of some rich spoiled rich wife?

Keep the midnight green unis and the bird's head logo. Time marches on, fellows. But lose the black alternate jerseys.

I would love to see kelly green back; they wore them for the first game of the season a few years back(vs Green Bay)to honor the 1960 team; i know some people associate kelly green with losing, Kotite, etc, but Dick Vermeil(same amount of SB appearances as Reid, btw) and Buddy Ryan won in those colors, as well as Buck Shaw. The team of the big four who should have black as a prominent color should be the Flyers.
