Fans petition Eagles to bring back kelly green uniforms

Do you want the Eagles to bring back those bodacious kelly green jerseys? Well, you're not the only one. Cranekicker, the hilarious local twitterer and Zoo With Roy contributor, has written a letter to Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie petitioning that the Birds bring back the old jerseys.

Already sold? Sign the petition here.

If you still need some convincing, hop on over to Zoo With Roy and read the letter. READ IT!

Cranekicker makes some pretty logical points, besides the obvious one that the new Eagles coach is named Chip Kelly. That isn't the main reason for the petition but Cranekicker, who wishes to remain anonymous, told Philly.com that it was just "a bonus to help kick start the process."

"Basically, I don't like the Eagles uniforms. I think they're ugly," Cranekicker said. "I'm not a fan of new uniforms in general. I like the traditional football look with the block letters, kind of like what they did with the Pro Bowl uniforms this season."

But will the petition work?

When asked if he thought it would ever reach Lurie's desk, Cranekicker said, "I'm sure that if it builds enough steam it will. I'm also pretty sure he knows how Philly fans feel about that color, but he probably doesn't care."

Come on, the last Birds championship came in 1960 when they wore those swaggerific jerseys.

As CK writes, "Welllll 1960 was the last title ... we still have no Super Bowl and that’s the ultimate barometer of success so give the fans what we want."

who cares, kelly green is over rated. I want the old tee shirt with the eagle pooping on the Dallas helmet to come back.

Not only would I like to see the Kelly Green unis come back I'd like to see the old logo too. Never liked the bird head. Bring back the soaring eagle carrying the football.

Yes, quite agree, tpizza. From the first time I saw the bird's head, it looked as if, were there a bird attached to it, the bird would be going DOWN! The SOARING eagle is so much better as to be incalculable!
Though I never had the greatest liking for the Kelly green, at the least it's better than the current, go along with the crowd "colors" of today.
With the number of other things in change at the moment, it would be a good time to change the color and the logo--ESPECIALLY, the logo!

Agree 100%. Kelly green and silver are the eagles historic colors. Midnight green is just ugly. The soaring eagle was definitely a better logo as well.

If they win the Super Bowl in lingerie, it will be ok with the Tonner. Well, the Tonner would prefer they're not wearing lingerie but you get the point.

i too prefer the kelly green jerseys...bednarik; van brocklin; jaworski; wilbert; reggie; clyde; JB; cunningham

but don't get your hopes up. Lurie likes to pretend the eagles were founded in '94 when he bought the team; his massive ego won't let him recognize the eagles have a history pre-dating him...unless he can make a lot of money off the new/old jersey

scr*w that, they need to make new history and new tradition. I like midnight green as many do, kelly green always looked sissy to me. If they ever win a SB it won't matter what color they wear, that color will be the new tradition.
And barca(?), what evidence has Lurie ever provided to support that hogwash? He has honored past players and teams more than the owners back then did. Your bungling attempts to characterize his intent and motives are the same as others claiming that your lack of intelligence and self confidewnce are the reason you name yourself for a 3rd century BC Punic Carthaginian.

Don't know what you're looking at, Eagle Eye, but your vision is blurred. Kelly green uniforms vs. disgusting blue/green. No contest. Look at clips of the opener two years ago when they wore the throwback uniforms. Incredible difference. Sharp, colorful. It's our history, period. Adjust the design, if you like, but kelly green and silver are the Eagles.

The Midnight Green looks drab and washed out, on overcast days it looks like your watching the game in black and white. PS, no need to write in Caps to make your opinion heard.

Lets bring back that 60"s look! The team is going to play like they did in the 60's so they may as well look like they did then!!!!!

It wont happen. There is no way Lurie changes everything midnight green on/in the linc. The stadium hasn't even been around 10 years so its way too soon to do a major overhaul.
