Before game one of their NBA playoff series, Knicks and Celtics stars Carmelo Anthony and Paul Pierce met on the court to address the crowd in regards to the recent bombings in Boston.
The Madison Square Garden crowd was less than receptive of Pierce.
The reaction upset Anthony, who told reporters following the game:
"‘I don’t think that was the right thing to do, boo somebody like that. At the end of the day, we all know what happened in Boston. Our prayers go out to the families and the City of Boston... Whoever booed him shouldn’t have booed him, not in a situation like that.’”
This sort of reaction was not limited solely to Knicks games.
