A friend of mine having MLB, on the phone, gave me a pitch by pitch update of the Phils game out here in Ca..And no, I did not think the Phils would hold on. Madson is not the closer as we can all see. Time for him to take a step back and hope Lidge can actually close out some of these close games. Most of the hits except for Howard's, were windblown in SF according to my friend and that still does not give one much love for these struggling hitters. Frankly, I am surprised they pulled Timmy with one walk in the 9th.

Nice job, Madson. Nice job continuing to run him out there, Charlie. Could we return him to the 8th inning where he can be effective, and try somebody else -- like Baez or Contreras -- if Lidge isn't ready? Maybe one of those two guys would have the composure to pitch the 9th, which Madson clearly doesn't.

The beauty of a 162 game season is that things even out. We lost the Atlanta game with a three run lead with two outs in the ninth and a man on first. Well, we just won this one in the exact same situation the Braves were in. Even though the Phils have not been playing well of late, you just get the feeling that this is going to be a special season.

Incredible cardiac game! Resigned to be 11-10, but NO! Snagged from the jaws of defeat despite some shortcomings (read: bullpen) and being outhit 17-8. THANK YOU Giants for the most generous gift of removing Lincecum. A great win for the team with great heart. GO FIGHTIN'S!!!!
