LeBron James' recent police escort is under investigation

Like thousands of others, LeBron James attended the Jay-Z/Justin Timberlake concert at Sun Life Stadium in Miami last Friday.

Unlike the thousands of other concertgoers however, James did not have to wait in the bumper-to-bumper traffic leading into the stadium.

Instead, the Miami mega-star was given a special police escort to the stadium, greatly expediting his arrival.

"They treat us so well! Needed it cause traffic was nuts," James posted underneath an Instagram video of him following behind the escort on the wrong side of the road.

While James' desire to arrive at the concert on time seems innocent enough, there is the little matter of police following a policy, which was clearly violated by the wrong-way escort into the stadium.

From the Miami-Dade police department:

"It has been brought to our attention that a video was posted on the internet by LeBron James, a professional basketball player, where it shows him being escorted onto the property of Sun Life Stadium.

Upon further investigation, it has been confirmed that Miami-Dade Police facilitated Mr. James from one intersection to another in the adjacent area of the stadium. His was not a scheduled escort and although all safety precautions were taken, the department has identified these actions as violated department policies."

The police officer involved has yet to be identified, and an investigation has been launched, according to the Miami Herald.
