Former Phillie Chris Coghlan leaps over catcher to score run

Watch this early contender for baseball's top play of the year.

Former Phillie Chris Coghlan became the early leader for the holder of baseball's top play of the year Tuesday when he leaped over Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina and landed on home plate to score the go-ahead run for the Blue Jays in the seventh inning.

The Blue Jays eventually won the game, 6-5, in 11 innings.

Coghlan could have done this in a Phillies uniform, but the team released him back on March 28 to clear the way for Brock Stassi. The Phillies might have kept him around if they knew he was capable of leaping over catchers like a luchador performing a Tope con Hilo.

Instead, Coghlan took his leaping ability to Toronto when he signed a minor-league deal with the team back on April 1. Coghlan was eventually promoted to Toronto's big club April 14.
