Despite the NFL's disappointment with the television ratings of Thursday night games and the underwhelming nature of many such contests, some around the league, including Eagles president Don Smolenski, want to see more Thursday night games added to the schedule.

“The NFL on Thursday night is some of the highest watched programming on TV and there’s interest in making Thursday night another destination night for football,” Smolenski told CNBC on Friday.

The Wall Street Journal reported earlier this week that the NFL is considering selling a secondary slate of Thursday night games to an interested outlet, although no specific terms or plans have been revealed.
