Last night on Long Island, everybody's favorite Pittsburgh Penguin Sidney Crosby got hit in the face by a puck off the stick of his teammate Kris Letang.
Much to the delight of the Islanders fans in attendance, Sid the Kid immediately collapsed onto the ice and was serenaded with the near-ubiquitous "Crosby sucks!" chant as he was helped off the ice and into the dressing room by a trainer.
Crosby would get the last laugh though as the injury wasn't even severe enough to keep him out of the game until the end of the period.
The good people at SB Nation posted this video of the incident. As a service to our regular commenters, allow me to save you some time by preemptively saying "If this happened in Philly, the national media would be all over us!" so you don't have to.

- this story will be conveniently ignored by the national press. In the lazy world of journalism today, if something happens that doesn't fit the established mold, it doesn't get reported. It only sells if it happens in Philly.
Meanwhile, fans maim and kill outside Dodger Stadium, loot stores and burn buses in celebration two years back in Boston, and fire weapons and abuse women at the most recent Univ. of Kentucky championship celebration. Now this nugget in Long Island. They're news items for one day, and that's it.
In Philly, Bob Ley is condicting an Ouitside the Lines segment and Stuart Scott is coming up with new disparaging descriptivesd for us.

- Pittsburg Fans won't admit it, but his wimpy behavior in the Playoffs last year had to be embarrasing. Crosby played great, but, at times, acted like a prissy little boy not getting his way. When you act like a Puss on the ice, you will get booed (in any arena). When the Puss gets laid out, the boos will become cheers!
