Brewers bullpen catcher devours most of Philadelphia's cheesesteak supply

The Phillies' recent series with the Milwaukee Brewers featured all sorts of reasons to be miserable: The Phillies were swept in front of a home crowd for four games by the only team in baseball they had a decent chance of beating; those four losses were a part of a larger, even more demoralizing six-game losing streak (and nine losses in 10 games); and some Brewers fans visiting our fair city came together to deface one of our most recognizable icons, a fake boxer who has somehow achieved patron sainthood.

While we were down, ESPN's John Buccigross took the opportunity to bash the beating heart of our local economy as well.

It's been a rough couple of days. But on top of all that, it has become apparent that while in town, the Brewers' bullpen catcher, Marcus Hanel, did his best to deplete the area's cheesesteak supply by devouring 23 of them over the course of four days, setting a new record.

It doesn't take a weeping medical professional to tell you that this sort of activity can wreak havoc on the human body, but Hanel seems somewhat horrifyingly impervious to overpriced ballpark meat.

Meanwhile, Hanel will stalk new prey elsewhere as he attempts quite fruitlessly to satisfy his terrible hunger.
