Analysts can totally see Cowboys drafting Johnny Manziel

An Eagles pick of Johnny Manziel in the NFL Draft "absolutely won't happen," which is good, because it woulld apparently really screw up the Cowboys' plans.

Of course, that's coming from two analysts not affiliated with the team, but, c'mon. There are two of them.

“I’ve heard this rumor for a month — the Cowboys will figure out a way to get Manziel.”

-- Jim Nantz, CBS Sports

"I absolutely buy Dallas’ interest in Manziel."

--Peter King, Sports Illustrated

It's all too easy to see Jerry Jones cheesing for a cluster of snapping shutterbugs, arm draped over Manziel's shoulder, whispering promises of his wildest dreams in his ear, as long as absolutely nothing goes wrong. Jones lives off of attention, and it would be a magnificent harvest for him should he nab the highest profile player - and a young, brash quarterback - with the 16th pick.

Of course, Manziel may not make it to the 16th pick. And perhaps the rumor was leaked by the Cowboys themselves in order to distract from what they are really up to.

Plus, there's no end to the media's joy of watching Tony Romo become downtrodden about things. They can debate his "elitism" all they want, but at the end of the day, producers are hoping for a gallery of sad Tony Romo faces to drive traffic.

So good luck in the Manziel era, Dallas. If history has taught us anything, it's that this will go very, very, extraordinarily well.
