Something has to pull the Flyers out of this funk. Will it be a big win? A fun song? A numb acceptance that under .500 is as good as this team can get? Because we're trying that and it's awful.
No, what the Flyers need is some new hardware, which Ilya Bryzgalov - or Mr. Universe, as he is referred to by disembodied phone-bots - received today in the form of a Star Wars-themed goalie mask.

That's Darth Vader on the right, reaching out to choke someone to death, flanked by the Death Star and an advancing star destroyer. Countering the Dark Side is a grimacing Yoda, waving his light saber dangerously close to R2-D2's head.
Yoda is an excellent choice of imagery for someone whose speech patterns follow their own distinct cadence. For anyone who hasn't seen the movies, "Do or do not; there is no try," could probably be a clip from the last Bryz presser.
But perhaps the most apt Yoda quotation for this occasion comes from the novel "Shatterpoint:"
"If no mistake have you made, yet losing you are ... a different game you should play."
UPDATE, 1:10 p.m.: Yoda's light saber is red, the color traditionally bestowed to the Sith lords. No idea what this could possibly mean, but it's definitely something. We'll keep you updated.
