The Phillies signed Carlos Zambrano to a minor league contract today, so let's take a look back at the formerly bright, consistently vocal career of their newest acquisition.
August 22, 2003
Zambrano squares off against Curt Schilling and the Diamondbacks. Schilling strikes out 14, but somehow is eclipsed by Big Z, who takes a no-hitter into the eighth, but gives up an infield hit to Shea Hillenbrand. Yes, the Shea Hillenbrand.

Bryce Harper isn’t going anywhere that isn’t on the other side of a hard wall.
While chasing a fly ball on Monday, the young Nationals star ran face-first into the outfield wall in Dodgers Stadium, giving himself 11 stitches and creating pain in most of his body parts. It was a trademark “Bryce Harper” style play, in which running at full speed in every direction, all the time, somehow results in injury.

If you were over by Rittenhouse Square at lunchtime on Tuesday, you might have noticed a bunch of guys in tight shorts and shirts tossing a football around.
No, the NFL hasn't suddenly changed its rules. What you saw was a demonstration of rugby ahead of the college Rugby Sevens tournament at PPL Park on June 1 and 2.
It's the third straight year in a row that Philadelphia has gotten to host the event. Twenty teams will participate, including six local colleges and a bunch of national rugby powers.

Although it sits over a full season away, the 2014 NBA Draft could be big for the 76ers.
The franchise, currently shrouded in uncertainty, is in rough shape after this disaster of a season, and this summer doesn’t seem to offer any worthwhile, reasonable relief.
Sure the Sixers have some cap space and a lottery pick on lock, but this summer’s free agent crop is underwhelming, as is the draft class. Although an obvious reaction to the poor play this season would be to retool the roster, this may not be the summer to sign away the future of the franchise.

Cole Hamels, Ryan Howard, and other members of the Phillies organization enjoyed a private screening of "Star Trek: Into Darkness" Monday night in Cherry Hill after returning from a seven-game road trip. The film opens nationwide on Thursday.
Others in attendance included Ruben Amaro Jr., Scott Proefrock, Chad Durbin, and Eric Kratz.
I'm not sure if any of the Phillies are "Trekkies" but I would bet at least one of them has a Captain Kirk outfit in his closet and a William Shatner poster above his bed ... Ruben.

Even if you like hockey fights, this one might be a bit much. But it's still worth passing around, maybe because it's from so far away.
This is video of a bunch of youth hockey players in Russia engaging in a mass brawl on ice.
Maybe they'll play for the Flyers some day?
