The Eagles’ Andy Reid wasn’t the only head coach relieved of his duties on Monday, although he was the longest-tenured. Teams wasted little time in making moves, as less than a full day after the regular season came to a close several coaches found themselves out of work.
Joining Andy on the unemployment line is Kansas City Chiefs coach Romeo Crennel, who was fired after one full season as head coach, which included a franchise low two wins, and a murder-suicide involving one of the players. The Chiefs however made no move on embattled GM Scott Pioli, who remains with the franchise.
Cleveland Browns GM Tom Heckert didn’t fare as well as Pioli, as both he and head coach Pat Shurmur were fired on Monday following a 5-11 season. Shurmur went 9-23 in his two seasons with the Browns, who will undergo yet another coaching search this offseason, as the new hire will be their sixth since 1999.

For years, the Cleveland Indians have dealt with backlash given their moniker. Their name alone has been considered outdated and culturally skewed, but their grinning "Chief Wahoo" logo has received the brunt of the frustration, and in recent seasons, the team has started to distance themselves from the image.
The unveiling of this year's batting practice caps from MLB continues this trend, as some teams like the Orioles and A's went with retro looks, but Cleveland persisted with the simple "C."
The league's other Native American-inspired team, however, is going in a different direction.

I wish I was a little bit taller...
If you've ever belted out Skee-Lo, and really meant it, Julian Newman is here to show you that you can still be a baller.
Newman, an 11-year-old fifth grader from Orlando, Florida, stands at just 4'5" but is making a habit of embarassing players two feet taller and a several years older.

There’s still a couple months until mock draft season officially begins, but after a season such as the one the Eagles have had this year, it is never too early to start looking ahead. It is no secret that the Eagles struggled protecting the quarterback throughout the season, so offensive line support makes sense as a main focus for the team.
Several current mock drafts have the Eagles at the #4 spot selecting Luke Joeckel, an offensive tackle from Texas A&M.
You may have seen Joeckel blocking for Heisman winner Johnny Manziel, aka Johnny Football during the season, and if drafted, the Eagles are hoping he can provide the same type of protection for their quarterback, whoever that turns out to be.

The Mayan Calender supposedly ends on December 21st 2012, which means that the end of the world will be upon us tomorrow. While doomsday preppers, conspiracy theorists and fire and brimstone preachers freak out about the end of the world, it might not be entirely bad for the state of sports in the city of Philadelphia.
It's the end of the world as we know it, and at least our teams cannot get any worse. If you're freaking about our teams doing poorly rather than the impending world's end here are some reasons why you should feel better that the Apocalypse will happen tomorrow.

New Jersey teenager Leon Purvis is hoping to strike gold with his prom date next year. Leon, who gained mild internet fame last year with his YouTube video asking Justin Beiber to his junior prom, is at it again. This time, the target is gold medalist Gabby Douglas.
In a Youtube video posted last week, Purvis asks Douglas to prom, stating "It will be an honor if you went to my senior prom with me, as my date. Not only is your story incredible and you are an amazing person, but your work ethic really inspires me."
Purvis, who attends Glassboro High School in New Jersey, has yet to hear back from Gabby Douglas, but remains hopeful. "I'm hoping to get her to be the date to my senior prom," he states.
