Twenty-one commits and counting for Temple

This is mind-boggling.

As of Thursday evening, Temple had 21 oral commitments for the Class of the 2012.

At 11 a.m. Thursday, Cardinal O’Hara cornerback Damiere Shaw announced he would become an Owl.

It was reported hours later that Temple also received a commitment from Michael Kalaman, a Trinity Prep (Fla.) linebacker. We also learned Thursday that South Western strong safety Mike Felton committed to the Owls earlier in the week. All three players will be seniors in the fall.

Kalaman, a 6-foot-3, 200-pounder, averaged 11 tackles per game last season.

A heady player, he relies on reads to make plays. However, his speed is a weakness. He covered the 40-yard dash in 5.02 seconds at January’s 2011 Under Armour All American Underclassman Combine.

The 6-foot, 200-pound Felton recorded a team-leading 74 tackles to go with an interception and nine deflections last season. He ran a 4.47-second 40-yard dash at one of Temple’s one-day camps.
