Temple’s Board of Directors approved a $9 million expansion and renovations to Edberg-Olson Hall, the football team’s practice facility on Tuesday.

This expansion had been in the works for some time.  The school just wanted to raise $2 million in private money to start the project.

“The weight room is going from to 2,500 square feet to 10,000,” a source told the Inquirer in August. “The training room is going to quadruple with state-of-the-art rehab equipment for the players. They are putting in a new academic center upstairs and a whole new team room upstairs for recruiting, team functions and alumni functions.”

The board of trustees deserves credit for their vision in investing in both football and basketball practice facilities. This will insure a prosperous future for Temple athletics.

Temple already has the best facilities in the MAC when you factor in Lincoln Financial Field and the football practice facilities. Hopefully this new upgrade will bring the team up to BCS standards ...

Temple is for students with more brains than money. I paid my own way through college, graduated, and make well over six figures. Bill Cosby, an ALUMNUS (singular), is a billionaire who laughs all the way to the bank. I wonder how this new training center stacks up against ACC and Big East Schools.

Is this timely step for the Owls a precursor to bigger things?

Wow! I remember working out in a tiny, shared (by all sports including football) weight room in old South Hall back in the later 60s. Seems like a lot of money, but I guess in todays world its not. Go Owls.

Sad that @rumple feels the need to post negative comments about Temple when I bet he/she never set foot on any college campus.

Unless they go to a BIGGER Conference, the attendance and support will not be there and they will never achieve the Super Football Power they want to be. When they were in BIG EAST They did not have the facilities to compete, Now they do and they used to play TOP 10 Teams in the Country in front of 5000 people. Now they have the LINC and should be taking advantage of it.
