Temple’s glaring weakness at training camp has been the play at wide receiver.
“Looking for that playmaker outside is a concern to me,” Temple coach Steve Addazio said. “A playmaker outside at the receiver position, you got to start seeing something.”
Instead, Addazio has witnessed an ineffective receiving core.
On Thursday, the receivers had a tough time getting off the line scrimmage and creating separation.
Slot receivers Jalen Fitzpatrick and Ryan Alderman have been the most impressive. But that’s not a good sign, considering Fitzpatrick is a converted quarterback and Alderman is a former walk-on.
“We just need some playmakers to show outside at the receiver position to catch the ball,” Addazio said.
If a playmaker doesn't emerge, Temple is destined to have a miserable return to the Big East.
