Temple steals recruit from UConn

Montour High offensive lineman Matt Barone de-committed from Connecticut Monday night and is now on board with Temple.

The 6-foot-3, 285-pound Barone became the fourth player in the Class of 2013 to orally commit to the Owls.

The rising senior follows in the footsteps of Montour teammate Tyler Haddock. Haddock, a defensive tackle, gave an oral commitment to Temple last week after de-committing from Kent State.

Haddock couldn’t contain his excitement Tuesday morning.

“He’s my best friend and it is a dream come true to have the opportunity to make a college legacy with him,” Haddock said of playing at Temple with Barone.

The duo joins Mainland kicker Jim Cooper Jr. and Moorestown offensive lineman Shane Rafter as Temple's current recruits.
